Key Terms

aiot technical
AIoT combines artificial intelligence with internet-connected physical devices so machines can collect data, learn from it, and act without human direction — for example, sensors that spot patterns and adjust settings automatically. Investors care because AIoT can boost a company's revenue and cut costs by enabling new services, recurring data subscriptions and automation, while also bringing scale, competitive edge and risks around privacy, regulation and upfront hardware investment.
software-as-a-service (saas) financial
Software-as-a-service (SaaS) is a way of delivering software over the internet where customers pay a subscription to use applications hosted and maintained by a provider, like renting a tool or streaming a service rather than buying and installing it. For investors it matters because subscriptions create predictable, recurring revenue and can scale quickly with low distribution costs, while metrics like customer retention and churn directly affect future cash flow and valuation.
unity platform technical
A unity platform is a single, integrated software system that brings together multiple tools, data sources and workflows so users can do more in one place instead of switching between separate apps. For investors, such platforms can cut costs, speed product development and create customer lock‑in—like a Swiss Army knife that replaces several loose tools—potentially boosting revenue stability and growth upside.
work health and safety (whs) regulatory
Work health and safety (WHS) are the laws, policies and everyday practices designed to protect people at work from injury, illness and hazardous conditions. For investors, WHS matters because robust safety systems reduce the risk of costly accidents, legal penalties and reputational damage, and they help maintain steady operations and worker productivity—think of WHS as seatbelts and traffic rules for a company’s workplace.
chain of responsibility regulatory
A chain of responsibility is a legal and practical idea that spreads duty and possible liability for safety, compliance, or product outcomes across every business and person in a supply or service chain, not just the company at the front. For investors it matters because problems — like regulatory breaches, accidents, or product faults — can create financial, legal, or reputational costs that affect any linked firm much like a relay race where a dropped baton harms the whole team.
ai video technical
AI video is any moving-image content created, enhanced, or automated using artificial intelligence tools—for example, software that generates realistic scenes from text, automatically edits footage, or replaces voices and faces. For investors, it matters because AI video can sharply cut production costs and speed time-to-market like an automated factory, while also raising questions about content authenticity, regulatory scrutiny, and new revenue or competitive opportunities.

Real-time risk management solution helps Australian on-road safety teams proactively identify high-risk driver behaviour and focus attention where it matters most

PERTH, Australia--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Powerfleet, a global leader in AIoT software-as-a-service (SaaS) solutions for mobile asset management, today announced the Australian launch of SafeGuard, an AI-powered risk intelligence solution designed to help operators identify, prioritise and address high-risk on-road driver behaviour in real time.

A fleet safety manager monitors driver risk in real time using SafeGuard, Powerfleet's AI-powered risk intelligence solution now available to Australian fleets.

A fleet safety manager monitors driver risk in real time using SafeGuard, Powerfleet's AI-powered risk intelligence solution now available to Australian fleets.

Available as an add-on to Powerfleet's VisionAI video solution and fully integrated within the Unity platform, SafeGuard uses artificial intelligence to continuously assess driver risk across a fleet, helping safety teams focus on the events and behaviours most likely to lead to incidents.

The launch comes as Australian operators face increasing pressure to strengthen safety performance and demonstrate proactive risk management under evolving Work Health and Safety (WHS) and Chain of Responsibility obligations.

Moving on-road safety from reactive to proactive

"Operators have access to more safety data than ever before, but knowing where to focus remains a significant challenge," said Brodie von Berg, Managing Director, Powerfleet APAC.

"SafeGuard helps safety teams augment AI video safety by identifying the highest-risk drivers and behaviours in real time, enabling earlier intervention, more effective coaching and ultimately safer outcomes across the fleet."

Embedded within the Unity platform, SafeGuard combines real-time risk monitoring, AI-powered real-time driving risk analysis, intelligent video event review and live intervention capabilities to give safety managers greater visibility and control over fleet risk.

Operators using SafeGuard have reported up to 83% reduction in on-road risk, 95% fewer false positive video event alerts, and an 80% reduction in video review time, helping safety teams improve operational efficiency while reducing risk.

Availability

SafeGuard is available now to Australian fleets as an add-on to VisionAI. For more information or to book a demonstration, visit www.powerfleet.com/au/safeguard.
