Ally Financial announces board of director appointments
Ally Financial (NYSE: ALLY) announced the appointment of Allan Merrill and Gunther Bright to its board of directors, effective Nov. 3, 2025.
Merrill brings over 30 years of leadership, currently serving as chairman, president and CEO of Beazer Homes and having served on the Freddie Mac board from 2020–2025. Bright brings more than 30 years at American Express, retired end of 2023, and has served on boards including TPG, Inc.
The company said these hires bring experience in leadership and financial services as Ally continues board refreshment, totaling five new independent directors since 2022.

Merrill has more than three decades of leadership experience. He currently serves as the chairman, president and CEO of Beazer Homes USA, Inc., a diversified national homebuilder. Merrill joined Beazer as CFO in 2007 and was appointed CEO in 2011. Prior to joining Beazer, Merrill worked in both investment banking and online real estate marketing.
