Sentiment and the balance of points

Rhea-AI Sentiment reads the wording of the document, how positive or negative its language is on a 1 to 5 scale. The balance of points shown with the takes weighs what the document actually discloses, so the two can disagree, for example when a trial that missed its main goal is described in upbeat language.

Rhea-AI Summary

Accuray (NASDAQ: ARAY) will implement a 1-for-40 reverse stock split effective November 9, 2026, following approval by its board. The split takes effect at 12:02 a.m. Eastern Time, with split-adjusted trading expected at the Nasdaq market opening that day. Accuray intends the split to raise its per-share trading price and regain compliance with Nasdaq's minimum bid price requirement.

Every 40 outstanding shares will become one share, reducing shares outstanding from approximately 120.2 million to 3.0 million, subject to adjustment for fractional shares. Authorized common shares will also decline proportionately, from 400,000,000 to 10,000,000.

How this balance works

Rhea-AI gives every point it takes from this document a weight. Minor counts 1, Moderate 3 and Major 9, so one Major point outweighs several Minor ones. The bar adds up the weights on each side, and when neither side holds more than 65% of the total the balance reads Mixed.

It reads the document as published, with the same rules for every company, and it does not look at what the market expected or at how the stock traded, so a point can be objectively good on a day the stock falls.

Rhea-AI Sentiment measures something else, the tone of the wording.

News Explained

The reverse split changes share counts but does not itself change company value; Accuray says ownership percentages remain unchanged except for fractional-share treatment, with cash paid instead of issuing fractional shares.

Key Terms

reverse stock split, cusip number, par value
3 terms
reverse stock split financial
"approved a 1-for-40 reverse stock split"
A reverse stock split reduces a company's number of outstanding shares while raising the price per share proportionally, so the total value of each investor's holding is unchanged; a 1-for-10 split turns 100 shares worth $1 each into 10 shares worth $10 each. Companies often do this to regain compliance with an exchange's minimum price rule or to attract investors who avoid very low-priced stocks.
cusip number financial
"with a new CUSIP number of 004397 303"
A CUSIP number is a nine-character code that uniquely identifies a specific U.S. or Canadian stock, bond, or other security, similar to a barcode or a social-security number for a financial instrument. It matters to investors because it removes confusion between similar securities, ensures trades and settlements are applied to the correct issue, and helps locate official documents and transaction records quickly.
par value financial
"will not change the par value of the Company's common stock"
Par value is the fixed amount printed on a bond or stock that represents its original value when issued. It’s like the face value of a coin or bill—what the issuer promises to pay back or the starting price of a stock—though it often doesn’t change with market prices. It matters because it helps determine certain financial details, like how much the company will pay back at maturity.

MADISON, Wis., Nov. 4, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Accuray Incorporated (NASDAQ: ARAY) announced today that its Board of Directors has approved a 1-for-40 reverse stock split of the Company's common stock and a corresponding decrease to the authorized number of shares of common stock. The reverse stock split is intended to increase the per-share trading price of the Company's common stock and enable the Company to regain compliance with the minimum bid price requirement for continued listing on The Nasdaq Capital Market ("Nasdaq").

Accuray Incorporated (PRNewsFoto/Accuray Incorporated) (PRNewsFoto/Accuray Incorporated)

The reverse stock split will become effective at 12:02 a.m. Eastern Time on November 9, 2026. The Company's common stock is expected to begin trading on a split-adjusted basis when the Nasdaq market opens on November 9, 2026 under the Company's existing trading symbol, "ARAY," with a new CUSIP number of 004397 303.

At the effective time of the reverse stock split, every 40 shares of the Company's common stock issued and outstanding will automatically be combined into one share of common stock. This will reduce the number of shares of common stock issued and outstanding from approximately 120.2 million shares to approximately 3.0 million shares, subject to adjustment for fractional shares. In addition, the total number of authorized shares of the Company's common stock will be proportionately reduced in accordance with the 1-for-40 ratio, from 400,000,000 shares to 10,000,000 shares. The number of authorized shares of the Company's preferred stock will not be adjusted as a result of the reverse stock split. The reverse stock split will affect all stockholders uniformly and will not change any stockholder's percentage ownership interest in the Company, except to the extent resulting from the treatment of fractional shares.

No fractional shares will be issued in connection with the reverse stock split. Stockholders who would otherwise be entitled to receive a fractional share will receive cash in lieu of a fractional share.

Proportionate adjustments will also be made, as applicable, to the number of shares underlying the Company's outstanding equity awards and other securities, as well as the applicable exercise or conversion prices and the number of shares available for issuance under the Company's equity incentive plans. The reverse stock split will not change the par value of the Company's common stock.

Computershare Trust Company, N.A. ("Computershare") is acting as the exchange agent for the reverse stock split. Stockholders holding shares electronically in book-entry form or through a broker, bank or other nominee generally will have their holdings automatically adjusted to reflect the reverse stock split, subject to the processes of their broker, bank or nominee. Stockholders holding shares of the Company's common stock in certificate form will receive a transmittal letter from Computershare with instructions after the effective date.
