AZZ Inc. Reports Fiscal Year 2027 Second Quarter Results
Quarterly operating income rose 22.4%, while GAAP earnings declined against a prior-year period boosted by an AVAIL asset-sale gain.
Sentiment and the balance of points
Rhea-AI Sentiment reads the wording of the document, how positive or negative its language is on a 1 to 5 scale. The balance of points shown with the takes weighs what the document actually discloses, so the two can disagree, for example when a trial that missed its main goal is described in upbeat language.
Rhea-AI Summary
AZZ (AZZ) reported fiscal 2027 second-quarter sales of $486.9 million and raised its full-year financial guidance following growth in both segments. Sales rose 16.7% year over year for the quarter ended August 31, 2026. Metal Coatings sales increased 22.9% to $233.5 million; Precoat Metals sales rose 11.5% to $253.4 million.
Operating income increased 22.4% to $83.8 million. GAAP net income fell 34.6% to $58.5 million, reflecting a prior-year gain related to AVAIL's asset sale. Adjusted diluted earnings per share rose 29.0% to $2.00, while GAAP diluted EPS fell 34.2% to $1.94. Quarterly operating cash flow increased 76.1% to $102.8 million.
AZZ completed the $57.5 million Seattle Galvanizing acquisition, repurchased $20.0 million of shares and increased its quarterly dividend 20% to $0.24. Revised fiscal 2027 guidance calls for sales of $1.825–$1.875 billion and adjusted diluted EPS of $7.00–$7.30.
How this balance works
Rhea-AI gives every point it takes from this document a weight. Minor counts 1, Moderate 3 and Major 9, so one Major point outweighs several Minor ones. The bar adds up the weights on each side, and when neither side holds more than 65% of the total the balance reads Mixed.
It reads the document as published, with the same rules for every company, and it does not look at what the market expected or at how the stock traded, so a point can be objectively good on a day the stock falls.
Rhea-AI Sentiment measures something else, the tone of the wording.

Non-GAAP Disclosure
Adjusted Net Income, Adjusted Earnings Per Share and Adjusted EBITDA
In addition to reporting financial results in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles in
In calculating adjusted net income and adjusted earnings per share, management excludes the following items from the reported GAAP measure: 1) intangible asset amortization, 2) restructuring charges, 3) acquisition costs, 4) additional stock compensation expense related to the adoption of our executive retiree long-term incentive program, 5) certain adjustments related to the Company's unconsolidated joint venture, and 6) the write-off of debt financing costs. Management defines Adjusted EBITDA as adjusted net income excluding depreciation, amortization, interest and provision for income taxes. Management believes Adjusted EBITDA is used by investors to analyze operating performance and evaluate the Company's ability to incur and service debt, as well as its capacity for making capital expenditures in the future.
Management provides non-GAAP financial measures for informational purposes and to enhance understanding of the Company's GAAP consolidated financial statements. Readers should consider these measures in addition to, but not instead of or superior to, the Company's financial statements prepared in accordance with GAAP, and undue reliance should not be placed on these non-GAAP financial measures. Additionally, these non-GAAP financial measures may be determined or calculated differently by other companies, limiting the usefulness of those measures for comparative purposes.
The following tables provide a reconciliation for the three and six months ended August 31, 2026 and August 31, 2025 from the non-GAAP Adjusted Earnings Measures to the most comparable measures, calculated in accordance with GAAP (in thousands, except per share data):

FAQ
AI-generated questions and answers. How Rhea-AI works. Not financial advice.
What were AZZ's fiscal 2027 second-quarter earnings?
AZZ reported GAAP diluted EPS of $1.94, down 34.2%, and adjusted diluted EPS of $2.00, up 29.0%, from the prior-year second quarter. GAAP net income was $58.5 million, down 34.6%. Prior-year earnings included AZZ's proportionate share of the gain from AVAIL's sale of the Electrical Products Group.
What is AZZ's revised fiscal 2027 guidance?
For the year ending February 28, 2027, AZZ expects sales of $1.825–$1.875 billion, adjusted EBITDA of $380–$420 million and adjusted diluted EPS of $7.00–$7.30. Each range is higher than its previous guidance.
What assumptions and exclusions underpin AZZ's fiscal 2027 guidance?
AZZ's guidance assumes an annualized effective tax rate of 25% and excludes potential federal regulatory changes. It also excludes additional potential acquisitions beyond Seattle Galvanizing, and potential equity income or losses and cash distributions from its minority interest in an unconsolidated subsidiary. Expected interest expense is $35–$45 million.
Why was AZZ's first-half operating cash flow lower than a year earlier?
The prior-year first half included $273.2 million of AVAIL distributions classified as a return on investment within operating cash flow. Operating cash flow was $139.991 million in the six months ended August 31, 2026, versus $373.169 million a year earlier. Current-period AVAIL distributions of $15.7 million were classified as a return of investment within investing activities.
What does AZZ exclude from adjusted earnings?
AZZ excludes intangible asset amortization, restructuring charges, acquisition costs, additional stock compensation tied to its executive retiree long-term incentive program, certain unconsolidated joint-venture adjustments and debt-financing-cost write-offs. These adjusted measures supplement, rather than replace, GAAP results.
