NEWPORT BEACH, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Clean Energy Fuels Corp. (NASDAQ: CLNE), the country’s leading provider of renewable natural gas (RNG) for the transportation market, today announced the appointment of Sean Wine as its Chief Revenue Officer (CRO). The CRO position is a first for Clean Energy, as the company places its focus on growth and maximizing revenue opportunities across its business.

In his new role, Wine will create and oversee the company’s commercial strategy and lead efforts to drive revenue growth, strengthen customer development and pursue market expansion.

“We brought in a global consulting firm to take a hard look at our business, the market and where we have the greatest opportunities to grow,” said Clay Corbus, CEO of Clean Energy. “Creating the CRO role is one of the ways we’re acting on that work. Sean will bring our revenue divisions together under a single group and better align how we pursue opportunities, manage our customers and ultimately generate revenue.”

“The market is moving in a direction we’ve been preparing for,” said Sean Wine. “We’re seeing growing demand for the Cummins X15N natural gas engine, high diesel prices driving major fleets to consider RNG, and leading carriers issuing RFPs for new natural gas fueling stations. We’ve spent years building the infrastructure and RNG supply to serve this market, and my focus now is making sure we have the right commercial strategy and structure to capture that opportunity and execute.”

Wine joined Clean Energy in 2006 and has held leadership roles across sales, renewable fuels and business development during his two decades with the company.

Prior to becoming CRO, Wine led Renewables Distribution, overseeing one of the company’s most complex profit centers. He has played a central role in developing, commercializing and scaling Clean Energy’s RNG business, helping build one of the largest RNG fuel portfolios in North America. He holds a B.A. in Political Science from the University of California, Santa Barbara.

rng technical
Renewable natural gas (RNG) is methane captured from organic waste sources—like landfills, farms, or wastewater—and cleaned to match the quality of conventional natural gas. For investors, RNG matters because it turns waste into a marketable, low-carbon fuel that can create new revenue streams, qualify for environmental credits, and reduce a company’s carbon footprint much like turning trash into a sellable product.
rfp technical
A request for proposal (RFP) is a formal document a buyer issues asking suppliers to submit detailed bids for providing specific goods, services, or projects. For investors it matters because winning an RFP can lead to new contracts, predictable revenue and proof a company can compete for large deals, while losing or delayed RFPs can signal pipeline risk — think of it like a competitive job posting or auction for a business opportunity.
