Optical transceivers are small hardware modules that convert electrical signals into pulses of light and back again so data can travel over fiber-optic cables; think of them as translators that let computers and network equipment “talk” over long distances at very high speed. They matter to investors because demand, supply constraints, and price changes for these components directly affect the growth and profitability of companies serving data centers, telecom networks, and cloud services, similar to how a shortage of car engines would impact auto makers.

Accelerates Time to First Token and Enhances AI Cluster Productivity

SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Credo Technology Group Holding Ltd (Credo) (NASDAQ: CRDO), an innovator in providing connectivity at scale through fast, reliable, and energy-efficient system solutions, today announced the general availability of its revolutionary 800G 2 x DR4 ZeroFlap (ZF) transceiver products. Credo’s ZF optical transceivers address persistent connectivity issues—most notably link flaps—that undermine AI cluster performance and deployment efficiency. With enhanced stability and rapid fault detection, ZF transceivers accelerate time to first token and unlock higher productivity, providing measurable operational value for AI infrastructure.

Credo has announced the general availability of its innovative 800G 2 x DR4 ZeroFlap (ZF) transceiver products, designed to better manage and mitigate optical link flaps. ZF optical transceivers integrate in-band remote telemetry; automated responses that localize, remediate and prevent link flaps; and smart ticketing that eliminates guesswork from service requests.

News Highlights:

  • Credo has announced the general availability of its innovative 800G 2 x DR4 ZeroFlap (ZF) transceiver products, designed to better manage and mitigate optical link flaps.
  • Credo’s ZF 800G optical transceivers are engineered to maximize AI cluster returns by providing integrated intelligence for real-time link health tracking and reporting.

Credo’s 800G 2xDR4 ZeroFlap optical transceivers use PILOT extensions residing on network switches, for optics telemetry extraction and streaming to monitoring agents, supporting SONiC and other switch operating systems.

“Introducing ZeroFlap capabilities into our 800G 2×DR4 transceivers underscores Credo’s belief that reliability must scale with bandwidth,” said Chris Collins, AVP of Sales & Optical Product Marketing at Credo. “By harnessing real‑time telemetry inside the transceiver, we’re enabling networks to predict and prevent failures before they impact services. The result is more training, more inference, and ultimately better returns for our customers.”

“800G optical datacom transceivers continue to be the workhorse of AI connectivity, accounting for more than half of all high-speed transceivers shipped through 2028. With well more than 30 million units shipping each year, reliability at scale is essential,” said Scott Wilkinson, Lead Analyst, Optical Components at Cignal AI. “Credo has introduced a new class of transceivers designed from the ground up to address the compounding issue of optical link flaps in growing AI clusters. The introduction of active feedback via Credo's ZeroFlap technology can help operators better manage their optical networks and improve overall return on their AI infrastructure investments.”

Credo’s ZeroFlap 800G 2 x DR4 transceivers are an essential tool for network technicians

  • Remote access to harvest telemetry from both sides of a link from either end-point
  • Non-volatile event logging is like a network time machine for historical trends
  • Broad network architecture support including fiber shuffle
  • Available in both Integrated Heat Sink (IHS) or Riding Heat Sink (RHS) versions to support switch and server-side installations
