spin-off, joint ventures, strategic partnerships or alliances
3 terms
spin-off financial
"Alternatives under consideration could include: Spin-off or separation of certain businesses"
A spin-off happens when a company creates a new, independent business by separating part of itself, like splitting off a division into its own company. This often happens so the new company can focus better on its own goals or attract different investors. It matters because it can lead to more growth opportunities and clearer focus for both companies.
View in glossary
joint ventures financial
"Sales of assets, joint ventures, strategic partnerships or alliances"
A joint venture is a business arrangement where two or more companies come together to work on a specific project or goal, sharing both the risks and the rewards. It’s like partners teaming up for a common goal, which can help them access new markets, share expertise, or reduce costs. For investors, joint ventures can create new opportunities but also involve shared responsibilities and potential risks.
strategic partnerships or alliances financial
"joint ventures, strategic partnerships or alliancesOther transactions designed to surface value"
A strategic partnership or alliance is a formal agreement between two or more companies to cooperate on specific goals—such as sharing technology, distribution channels, research, manufacturing, or marketing—while remaining independent organizations. For investors it matters because these deals can speed growth, lower costs or risks, open new markets or product lines, and change a company’s competitive position, much like neighbors pooling tools and labor to build something neither could easily do alone.
