Key Terms

issuer-sponsored tokenization, onchain, AUM, programmable settlement
4 terms
issuer-sponsored tokenization financial
"evaluating issuer-sponsored tokenization — an approach in which the issuer itself"
Issuer-sponsored tokenization is when a company or other securities issuer creates digital tokens that represent ownership, rights, or claims in its securities or assets and deliberately backs, issues, or approves those tokens as an official form of the issuer’s interest. For investors this matters because the tokens aim to carry the same legal and economic rights as traditional securities but can be traded, settled, or divided more quickly and in smaller pieces—like converting a physical share certificate into many digital slices that move instantly on a ledger.
onchain technical
"bringing public-company shares onchain"
"Onchain" describes activities, transactions, or data that happen directly on a blockchain, which is a digital ledger that records information transparently and securely. For investors, onchain activities provide real-time insights into how assets are moving and how networks are functioning, helping them make more informed decisions. Think of it as watching transactions happen live on a public record, similar to seeing a receipt posted online immediately after a purchase.
AUM financial
"with approximately $5B in AUM (as of August 2026)"
Assets under management (AUM) is the total market value of investments that a financial firm or fund manages on behalf of clients. Investors watch AUM like the size of a shop: larger AUM can mean more fee revenue, greater market influence and perceived stability, while rapid changes in AUM signal growing popularity or redemptions that may affect future earnings and investment strategy.
programmable settlement technical
"such as 24/7 market access, programmable settlement and new forms"
A settlement process that uses programmable rules—usually software logic or smart contracts on a distributed ledger—to automatically complete the final transfer of securities, cash, or tokenized assets when pre-set conditions are met. It matters to investors because it can speed up and standardize trade finality, reduce counterparty and operational risk, and enable conditional or automated payments (like escrow or simultaneous asset-for-payment) in the same way a vending machine enforces rules without a middleman.

Collaboration pairs Securitize’s regulated tokenization infrastructure with CURRENC Capital’s first-hand issuer experience to help listed companies evaluate regulated approaches to bringing public-company shares onchain

HONG KONG and MIAMI, Aug. 26, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- CURRENC Capital Inc. (“CURRENC Capital”), a wholly owned subsidiary of Currenc Group Inc. (Nasdaq: CURR) (“Currenc”), today announced that CURRENC Capital entered into a strategic partnership agreement with Securitize Corp. (“Securitize”) (NYSE: SECZ), the leading platform for tokenized assets.

Under the agreement, CURRENC Capital and Securitize will work with select listed companies evaluating issuer-sponsored tokenization — an approach in which the issuer itself authorizes and sponsors the onchain representation of its shares, preserving the rights of the underlying security. As the subsidiary of a tokenized public company whose shares have already been brought onchain, CURRENC Capital will contribute the experience of its management team, together with its parent company’s relationships across global capital markets. Securitize, through its applicable regulated affiliates, may provide participating issuers with tokenization and related capital-markets infrastructure.

The collaboration builds on the tokenization of Currenc’s ordinary shares on Ethereum and Solana in April 2026, which made Currenc one of the first Nasdaq-listed companies to support onchain ownership of its equity.

“Having brought CURR shares onchain, we understand the operational, legal and communications considerations public companies must evaluate when pursuing tokenization,” said Alex Kong, Founder, Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Currenc “Through CURRENC Capital, we look forward to sharing that issuer perspective and working with Securitize to help other listed companies explore this emerging area of capital-markets infrastructure.”

“Public equities are one of the next major asset categories that can benefit from tokenization, but they need to move onchain through regulated, issuer-sponsored infrastructure that preserves the rights of the underlying security,” said Carlos Domingo, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Securitize. “Currenc’s experience tokenizing its own listed shares gives it a valuable issuer perspective, and we look forward to working together to help more public companies evaluate how tokenization can modernize ownership infrastructure and create new functionality for shareholders over time.”

Issuer-sponsored tokenization may allow public companies to modernize how ownership is recorded and administered while establishing infrastructure that can support additional onchain functionality—such as 24/7 market access, programmable settlement and new forms of shareholder engagement—over time.
