This three-year investment will support quality workforce programs connecting middle and high school students with a wide variety of in-demand healthcare careers.

CINCINNATI--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- The Health Collaborative (THC) announced a $150,000 investment from Covista to expand healthcare career exploration opportunities for middle and high school students across Greater Cincinnati.

The three-year, $50,000-per-year investment will support THC’s Workforce Innovation team as it develops, launches, evaluates, and expands programs designed to introduce young people to the broad range of careers available across the healthcare industry – from clinical and allied health professions to behavioral health, public health, community health, and more.

“Students cannot pursue healthcare careers they don’t know exist,” said Tiffany Mattingly, Chief Engagement Officer & Vice President, Clinical Strategies. “Covista’s investment will help us open doors earlier, create meaningful hands-on experiences, and connect students with the people and pathways that can help them envision and pursue a future in healthcare.”

Greater Cincinnati’s healthcare workforce needs sustained investment in the next generation of talent, yet many students have limited opportunities to explore careers beyond the providers they encounter in traditional clinical settings. Through Covista’s support, THC will strengthen existing youth pipeline programs while exploring new experiences including:

  • Healthcare Innovation Hack-A-Thons: Team-based challenges inviting high school students to identify & develop creative solutions for topical healthcare problems
  • Employer-Connected Experiences: Site visits, simulations, career fairs, speaker panels, mentorship opportunities

"Healthcare has room for everyone who wants to build a career in it, and that starts with showing young people what's possible," said Amelia Manning, president of Chamberlain University, a Covista institution. "We're proud to support The Health Collaborative in giving Greater Cincinnati students a clear line of sight into the field, whether that leads them to nursing, allied health, or another path in healthcare. Investing in this pipeline strengthens the entire community we serve."

As a regional healthcare convener, THC brings together healthcare employers, educators, community organizations and public partners to address challenges that are best solved together. This investment will provide earlier and more equitable exposure to healthcare pathways and open doors for students who may not otherwise have access to sustained employer-connected healthcare career exploration.

Key Terms

allied health medical
Allied health describes the wide group of health-care professionals who provide diagnostic, technical, therapeutic and support services distinct from physicians and nurses—for example, therapists, laboratory technologists, radiographers, dietitians and clinical technicians. It matters to investors because allied-health services and staff drive demand for medical equipment, facilities, software and billing flows, and their supply, regulation and reimbursement affect revenue, costs and operational risk for health-sector companies.
behavioral health medical
Behavioral health covers services, treatments and products that address mental health, substance use and other behavior-related conditions—everything from therapy and counseling to addiction treatment, psychiatric care and digital mental-health apps. Investors care because demand, reimbursement rules, regulation and the effectiveness of treatments directly affect revenue and costs for providers and companies, much like how advances or policy changes in any essential service can change who buys it and how profitable it is.
