Rhea-AI Sentiment reads the wording of the document, how positive or negative its language is on a 1 to 5 scale. The balance of points shown with the takes weighs what the document actually discloses, so the two can disagree, for example when a trial that missed its main goal is described in upbeat language.

New enterprise 5G platform enables primary wireless broadband, fast and assured failover, Wi-Fi 7 and AI-assisted network management in a single managed solution

MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Digi International (NASDAQ: DGII, www.digi.com), a leading global provider of wireless WAN connectivity products and services, today announced the launch of Digi EX60, a new indoor enterprise 5G router designed to make 5G a primary broadband option for branch offices, retail locations and distributed enterprises while simplifying network infrastructure and management.

Digi International Announces Digi EX60 for Always-On 5G Branch Connectivity

Digi is expanding its enterprise branch portfolio with Digi EX60, built for the industry-wide move from LTE to 5G. Enterprises operating retail stores, medical offices and branch locations are entering a multi-year replacement cycle as carriers continue shifting investment toward 5G and as critical systems, from point-of-sale terminals to patient check-in tools, become increasingly dependent on reliable connectivity.

Digi EX60 is built for that transition, delivering 5G as either the primary connection at a site or an automatic failover for an existing wired link. Its Dual SIM Dual Standby (DSDS) capability keeps a secondary cellular connection live and ready in the background rather than activating only after it detects an outage, enabling failover up to 10x faster than traditional approaches. That speed matters most in the moments when a dropped connection at a retail register or a medical front desk turns into lost transactions and frustrated customers.

That connectivity is backed by centralized management through Digi Remote Manager, giving enterprise IT teams visibility and control across hundreds or thousands of locations without a truck roll to every site. Digi Remote Manager includes a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that lets IT teams connect the AI assistant of their choice for fleet-wide monitoring and automation, as well as Digi Remote Reach, which provides single-click access to devices connected behind the router, from a point-of-sale terminal to a patient check-in kiosk, with no VPN, cloud proxy or added cost. Together, these capabilities help differentiate Digi in the enterprise branch networking market.

For teams that want a ready-to-use AI option, Digi Artificial Network Intelligence (DANI), a purpose-built AI agent available as a value-added service, lets operators ask questions in plain language and identify potential issues before they cause downtime.

"Whether a site runs 5G as its main connection or as fast failover for broadband, Digi EX60 does it in one box. Router, switch, Wi-Fi 7, 5G and eSIM are all built in, and it works with your AI or ours to simplify management and support across every location," said Tony Puopolo, President, Digi Managed Solutions.

Primary 5G with Fast, Assured Failover

Digi EX60 is built around 3GPP Release 17 5G enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB) and carrier aggregation, with a 2.5 GbE WAN port designed to handle the throughput of high-speed 5G connections. DSDS, two Nano-SIM slots and eSIM enable simultaneous monitoring of cellular connections and validation of a secondary carrier before it is needed.

Key capabilities include:

  • Primary 5G broadband: Supports full-time branch traffic instead of serving only as an emergency backup
  • Fast, assured failover: Monitors and validates the secondary carrier in real time before failover, which helps eliminate blind SIM switching and sends proactive alerts through Digi Remote Manager
  • Wi-Fi 7: Extends high-performance connectivity throughout the branch with tri-band, dual-concurrent Wi-Fi 7
  • WAN diversity: Supports wired connectivity and low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite as additional failover options
  • Single-box architecture: Combines router, switch, Wi-Fi access point and edge computing capabilities

Digi EX60 extends the 2026 Digi cellular portfolio alongside the Digi IX25 industrial 5G router and the Digi TX65 5G transportation router, providing organizations with a consistent approach to secure, managed cellular connectivity across distributed environments.

Availability

Digi EX60, model EX60-5B-1N, is available beginning October 6, 2026, through Digi global sales channels and authorized partners as part of Digi 360. Digi 360 combines purpose-built hardware, Digi Remote Manager, an industry-leading limited lifetime warranty and 24x7x365 support in a single subscription.

At launch, Digi EX60 supports AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile networks.

Key Terms

enhanced mobile broadband (embb) technical
Enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB) is a category of wireless service defined in 5G standards that prioritizes very high data rates, increased capacity, and improved user experience for broadband applications on mobile devices. It enables faster downloads and uploads, smoother high-definition video and virtual/augmented reality, and better performance in crowded areas by using wider frequency bands, advanced antenna techniques, and more network capacity. eMBB is focused on throughput and coverage rather than the ultra-low latency or massive device density targeted by the other 5G service categories (URLLC and mMTC), so its design emphasizes speed and sustained data capacity over guaranteed millisecond-level response or support for vast numbers of simple sensors.
carrier aggregation technical
Carrier aggregation is a wireless network technique that combines two or more separate frequency bands (radio channels) so a mobile device can send and receive more data at once, boosting speed and capacity. For investors, it affects how well a carrier can serve customers and use its spectrum, influencing customer experience, network costs, device compatibility, and potential revenue—think of it as opening extra lanes on a highway to reduce traffic and carry more goods.
esim technical
An esim is a small, built-in electronic SIM card inside a phone, tablet or connected device that stores mobile network credentials digitally instead of using a removable plastic card. For investors it matters because it changes how carriers sell and manage subscriptions, lowers logistics costs for device makers, enables easier switching between networks or plans (including global roaming), and expands opportunities in Internet-of-Things connectivity and recurring revenue services.
low earth orbit (leo) technical
Low Earth Orbit (LEO) is the region of space close to Earth, roughly up to 2,000 kilometers above the surface, where most communication, imaging and weather satellites operate. It matters to investors because it is a fast-growing commercial zone — think of it as a crowded highway for satellites — creating opportunities in satellite manufacturing, launch services, broadband and data analytics while also bringing risks from congestion, debris, regulatory licensing and intense competition.
