Sentiment and the balance of points

Rhea-AI Sentiment reads the wording of the document, how positive or negative its language is on a 1 to 5 scale. The balance of points shown with the takes weighs what the document actually discloses, so the two can disagree, for example when a trial that missed its main goal is described in upbeat language.

Equus Total Return (NYSE: EQS) received a notice on October 6, 2026, of noncompliance with the NYSE minimum share-price rule. Its average closing price was below $1.00 over 30 consecutive trading days. The notice is a deficiency notice, not a delisting, and has no immediate effect on listing or trading.

Equus plans to notify the NYSE by October 20, 2026 of its intent to restore compliance and will consider alternatives, including a reverse stock split. During the six-month cure period following receipt, compliance requires a month-end closing price and a preceding 30-trading-day average of at least $1.00. Continued listing remains subject to other NYSE standards.

How this balance works

Rhea-AI gives every point it takes from this document a weight. Minor counts 1, Moderate 3 and Major 9, so one Major point outweighs several Minor ones. The bar adds up the weights on each side, and when neither side holds more than 65% of the total the balance reads Mixed.

It reads the document as published, with the same rules for every company, and it does not look at what the market expected or at how the stock traded, so a point can be objectively good on a day the stock falls.

Rhea-AI Sentiment measures something else, the tone of the wording.

reverse stock split financial
"including, but not limited to, a reverse stock split."
A reverse stock split reduces a company's number of outstanding shares while raising the price per share proportionally, so the total value of each investor's holding is unchanged; a 1-for-10 split turns 100 shares worth $1 each into 10 shares worth $10 each. Companies often do this to regain compliance with an exchange's minimum price rule or to attract investors who avoid very low-priced stocks.

Company Intends to Regain Compliance with NYSE Rule
Notice Has No Immediate Impact on the Listing or Trading of Equus Common Stock

HOUSTON, Oct. 13, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Equus Total Return, Inc. (NYSE: EQS) (“Equus” or the “Company”) announced today that it was notified by the New York Stock Exchange (the “NYSE”) on October 6, 2026, that it is not in compliance with Section 802.01C of the NYSE Listed Company Manual because the average closing price of the Company’s Common Stock (“Common Stock”) was less than $1.00 over a consecutive 30 trading-day period, which is the minimum average closing price required to maintain continued listing on the NYSE. The notice is a notice of deficiency, not delisting, and does not currently affect the listing or trading of the Company’s Common Stock on the NYSE.

The Company plans to notify the NYSE by October 20, 2026 that it intends to cure the average closing stock price deficiency and to return to compliance with the NYSE's continued listing standards. The Company can regain compliance at any time within the six-month period following receipt of the NYSE's notice if on the last trading day of any calendar month during the cure period, the Company has (i) a closing share price of at least $1.00 and (ii) an average closing share price of at least $1.00 over the 30 trading-day period ending on the last trading day of that month.

The Company intends to consider available alternatives to cure the stock price noncompliance including, but not limited to, a reverse stock split. Under the NYSE’s rules, if the Company determines that it will cure the stock price deficiency by taking an action that will require stockholder approval at a special meeting of stockholders, the price condition will be deemed cured if the price promptly exceeds $1.00 per share, and the price remains above that level for at least the following 30 trading days.

The Company’s Common Stock will continue to be listed and trade on the NYSE during this period, subject to the Company’s ongoing compliance with the NYSE's other continued listing standards. Furthermore, the notice is not anticipated to impact the ongoing business operations of the Company or its reporting requirements with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
