Sentiment and the balance of points

Rhea-AI Sentiment reads the wording of the document, how positive or negative its language is on a 1 to 5 scale. The balance of points shown with the takes weighs what the document actually discloses, so the two can disagree, for example when a trial that missed its main goal is described in upbeat language.

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Forrester Research, Inc. (Nasdaq: FORR) today announced financial results for the third quarter ended September 30, 2026, with contract value at $281.9 million, down 3.5% compared with the prior year.

“We continue to see stabilization of the business, with results above consensus, a strong stock buyback program, and prudent expense management,” said CEO and Chairman George F. Colony. “As a result, we are raising the low end of our guidance for 2026 earnings per share.

“Our AI focus is deliberate and intentional, and we continue to advance our product roadmap, delivering new AI capabilities. This quarter, we unveiled a robust portfolio of new products including AI Access Plus, Team Solutions, and an integration with Claude. These offerings give our clients greater flexibility in how they access our research and insights to make better decisions faster. We believe these enhancements will help deliver improved results for the remainder of the year and into next year.”

Third-Quarter Consolidated Results

Total revenues for the third quarter of 2026 were $86.1 million, compared with $94.3 million for the comparable quarter in 2025.

(1) Forrester believes that adjusted financial results provide investors with consistent and comparable information to aid in the understanding of Forrester’s ongoing business and are also used by Forrester in making compensation decisions. Our adjusted presentation excludes amortization of acquisition-related intangible assets, stock-based compensation, restructuring costs (credits), goodwill impairment charges, credit losses on a promissory note from the sale of a product line in 2024, and net gains or losses from investments, as well as their related tax effects. We also utilized an assumed tax rate of 29% in 2026 and 2025, which excludes items such as the effect of any adjustments related to the filing of prior-year tax returns. The adjusted data does not purport to be prepared in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles in the United States.
(2) The tax effect of adjusting items is based on the accounting treatment and rate for the jurisdiction of each item.
(3) To compute adjusted net income, we apply an adjusted effective tax rate of 29% in 2026 and 2025.

Key Terms

gaap financial
GAAP, or Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, are a set of standardized rules and guidelines that companies follow when preparing their financial statements. They ensure consistency, transparency, and comparability across different companies, making it easier for investors to understand and compare financial information accurately. This helps investors make informed decisions based on trustworthy and uniform financial reports.
View in glossary
stock-based compensation financial
Stock-based compensation is when a company pays employees, directors or consultants with shares or the right to buy shares instead of or in addition to cash. It matters to investors because issuing stock or options spreads ownership thinner (like cutting a pie into more slices), which can reduce each existing share’s claim on profits and can also change reported earnings; investors watch it to assess true cost of running the business and how management is incentivized.
View in glossary
goodwill impairment financial
Goodwill impairment occurs when a company’s valued reputation or brand strength, known as goodwill, is found to be worth less than previously recorded on its financial statements. This usually happens when the company's performance declines or market conditions change, signaling that the expected benefits from acquisitions or brand value are no longer as strong. It matters to investors because it can indicate that a company's assets are less valuable than initially thought, potentially affecting its overall financial health.
diluted share financial
Diluted share count is the total number of company shares that would exist if all potential claims that can become stock—such as employee stock options, warrants and convertible bonds—were exercised or converted. Investors use diluted shares to see a more conservative view of ownership and per-share metrics (like earnings per share), because it’s like slicing a cake into more pieces: the same profit spread over more slices makes each slice smaller.
