Insights

GDIT's $396M SOCOM contract strengthens General Dynamics' defense IT portfolio with recurring revenue potential through 2030.

General Dynamics Information Technology has secured a $396 million contract to provide enterprise IT services to components of the U.S. Special Operations Command, representing a significant win in the defense IT sector. The contract structure—a one-year base with four option years—creates potential recurring revenue through 2030, providing stability to GDIT's financial outlook.

The contract's focus on AI implementation, multi-cloud migration, and zero trust cybersecurity positions GDIT at the intersection of two high-growth defense spending areas: special operations capabilities and advanced digital technologies. This aligns perfectly with Department of Defense priorities for contested environment operations.

Contextually, this award builds upon GDIT's expanding footprint in combatant command support, following previous contracts with SOCOM, U.S. Central Command, and U.S. Southern Command. This pattern suggests GDIT is successfully leveraging past performance to secure additional high-value defense IT modernization work—a competitive advantage in an increasingly crowded defense technology marketplace.

For General Dynamics' overall financial performance, this contract represents approximately 0.8% of the company's 2024 annual revenue of $47.7 billion. While modest relative to GD's total operations, it strengthens the company's IT services portfolio with the type of high-margin, technology-focused work that typically delivers superior profitability compared to traditional hardware-focused defense contracts.

Company will leverage AI, cloud and cyber capabilities to enhance operational effectiveness

FALLS CHURCH, Va., June 13, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT), a business unit of General Dynamics (NYSE:GD), announced today that it was awarded a foundational Information Technology Enterprise contract to support components of the U.S. Special Operations Command (SOCOM). The $396 million contract, awarded in April, has a one-year base period and four option years.
