Key Terms

ai-powered technical
"AI-powered" describes technology that uses artificial intelligence to perform tasks, make decisions, or analyze information automatically. It’s similar to having a highly skilled assistant that can learn from data, recognize patterns, and improve over time, helping to make processes faster and more accurate. For investors, this means better insights and more efficient operations, potentially leading to smarter investment choices.
ai-enabled technical
AI-enabled describes a product, service, or process that uses artificial intelligence—software that learns from data and makes decisions or predictions—as a core feature rather than a minor add-on. For investors it matters because AI-enabled offerings can boost productivity, lower costs or unlock new revenue streams; like adding a smart autopilot to a routine task, they can change a company's growth potential and competitive edge while also bringing higher upfront investment needs and distinct regulatory or ethical risks.
managed services technical
Managed services are when a business hires an outside provider to run and maintain a specific ongoing function—commonly IT, cybersecurity, networks, or back-office tasks—under a contract that includes monitoring, updates and problem resolution. For investors this matters because it creates predictable costs and recurring revenue for the provider while reducing operational risk and capital spending for the client, much like hiring a building superintendent to keep systems running so management can focus on growth.
clinical triage medical
Clinical triage is the process of quickly assessing and prioritizing patients or potential trial participants based on the severity of their condition and suitability for care or study, like a traffic cop directing the most urgent cases to the front of the line. For investors, triage matters because it affects how efficiently healthcare providers and clinical trials use limited resources, control costs, manage patient safety and enrollment speed, and therefore influence revenue, timelines and regulatory risk.
operating segment financial
An operating segment is a distinct part of a company that earns revenue and incurs costs on its own—think of it like a store within a chain or a department that runs its own day-to-day business. Investors watch operating segments because they reveal which parts of a company are profitable or risky, helping assess growth drivers, allocate capital, and compare performance as if each segment were a mini-business.
