Key Terms

minimally invasive care, robotic-assisted surgery, endoluminal
3 terms
minimally invasive care medical
"a global technology leader in minimally invasive care and the pioneer of robotic-assisted surgery"
Minimally invasive care describes medical procedures and treatments that use small incisions, tiny instruments or focused devices to diagnose or fix problems with less disruption to the body than traditional surgery—think of using a keyhole instead of taking the door off its hinges. It matters to investors because these approaches typically shorten hospital stays, lower complication and recovery costs, and expand the pool of patients eligible for treatment, which can boost demand for related devices, services and reimbursement revenues.
robotic-assisted surgery medical
"a global technology leader in minimally invasive care and the pioneer of robotic-assisted surgery"
Robotic-assisted surgery uses a surgeon-controlled robotic system to perform or assist with operations, where the doctor operates instruments through small incisions while a machine translates their movements into precise actions. For investors, it matters because these systems change procedure costs, hospital purchasing and training needs, and recurring revenue from instruments and service contracts—similar to how a new industrial robot can reshape manufacturing costs and output.
endoluminal medical
"promotion of Global Senior Vice President of Intuitive’s endoluminal business Taylor Patton"
Endoluminal describes medical procedures or devices that operate inside the open channel (lumen) of a hollow organ or blood vessel, like working within a straw rather than cutting through its walls. For investors, endoluminal approaches usually imply less invasive treatments, shorter hospital stays and faster recovery, which can lower costs, broaden patient adoption and affect market size and regulatory pathways for related medical products.

Our goal is to provide customers the tools, support, training, and resources they need to succeed – ultimately helping them achieve the Quintuple Aim across every platform, in every geography."

"It has been a privilege to be a part of Intuitive since 2003, and I am excited about the opportunity to contribute to our next chapter as we continue to transform the future of healthcare,” said Charlton.
