How this balance works

Rhea-AI gives every point it takes from this document a weight. Minor counts 1, Moderate 3 and Major 9, so one Major point outweighs several Minor ones. The bar adds up the weights on each side, and when neither side holds more than 65% of the total the balance reads Mixed.

It reads the document as published, with the same rules for every company, and it does not look at what the market expected or at how the stock traded, so a point can be objectively good on a day the stock falls.

Rhea-AI Sentiment measures something else, the tone of the wording.

Key Terms

net interest margin, non-performing loans, charge-offs, other real estate owned
4 terms
net interest margin financial
"a 35 basis point increase in our net interest margin from the prior year"
Net interest margin measures how much a bank earns from lending and investing compared with what it pays for funding, expressed as a percentage of its interest-earning assets. Think of it like a grocery store’s markup: it shows the gap between buying cost and selling price per dollar of goods — here, the cost is interest paid and the sale is interest received. Investors watch it because a higher margin usually means a bank is more profitable and better at managing interest rate and credit conditions.
non-performing loans financial
"Total non-performing loans were $428 thousand at September 30, 2026"
Loans on a bank’s books where the borrower has stopped making scheduled payments for a prolonged period (commonly about 90 days), so the lender no longer expects full repayment on time. Think of them as overdue IOUs that may never be paid back; a rising level of such loans weakens a lender’s earnings and balance sheet, signals greater credit risk in the economy, and can hurt investors through lower dividends, loan losses, or declines in the lender’s stock value.
charge-offs financial
"There were $14 thousand in loan recoveries and $300 thousand in loan charge-offs"
Charge-offs occur when a lender decides a loan or debt is unlikely to be repaid and removes it from its active assets, treating the amount as a loss on its books while the borrower may still legally owe the money. For investors, rising charge-offs are like seeing more bad checks in a household budget: they signal worsening credit quality, reduce a lender’s profits and capital cushions, and can foreshadow tighter lending and higher loan-loss provisions.
other real estate owned financial
"Other real estate owned declined by $2.2 million during the year"
Assets a lender or financial firm holds after taking back real property through foreclosure or repossession because a borrower defaulted. Think of it like a store keeping returned items it didn’t sell — these properties are not earning interest, can be costly to maintain, and may be sold at a loss or profit, so they directly affect a lender’s balance sheet, cash flow and perceived credit risk for investors.

Net income increased by $777 thousand, or 30.8%, to $3.3 million for the three-month period ended September 30, 2026 from $2.5 million for the three months ended September 30, 2025 driven by higher net interest income. Net income increased by $2.8 million, or 28.7%, to $12.6 million during the year ended September 30, 2026 compared with $9.8 million for the year ended September 30, 2025 from higher net interest income, partially offset by higher provisions for credit loss, lower other income, higher other expenses and higher income tax expense.

What were Magyar Bancorp's fiscal 2026 earnings?

Magyar Bancorp earned $12.6 million for the year ended September 30, 2026, up 29% from $9.8 million in fiscal 2025. Diluted earnings per share increased to $1.99 from $1.56.

How much is Magyar Bancorp's increased quarterly dividend and when is it paid?

The increased quarterly dividend is $0.12 per share, payable November 24, 2026, to shareholders of record November 10, 2026. This is Magyar Bancorp's second dividend increase this fiscal year.

Why did Magyar Bancorp's fiscal 2026 credit loss provisions increase?

Growth in commercial real estate loans and construction loan commitments accounted for most fiscal 2026 credit loss provisions. The allowance for off-balance-sheet credit losses increased $425 thousand to $623 thousand, entirely through provisions resulting from higher outstanding construction loan commitments.

What affected Magyar Bancorp's fiscal 2026 operating expenses?

Higher compensation and benefit expenses were the primary driver of the annual increase in non-interest expenses. Compensation and benefits rose $490 thousand, or 3.9%, reflecting merit increases, medical insurance costs and incentive accruals. Termination of the defined benefit pension plan partly offset these costs with a $139 thousand net settlement credit.
