Key Terms

cloud-native technical
Cloud-native describes a way of creating and running applications that are designed specifically to operate smoothly on cloud computing platforms. Think of it as building a house with flexible, lightweight materials that can be easily moved, scaled, or adjusted as needed, rather than using rigid, traditional construction. For investors, it signifies technology that is more adaptable, efficient, and capable of quickly responding to changing market demands.
mission-critical communications technical
Mission-critical communications are the real-time messages and systems that an organization must send and receive without fail to keep essential operations running—think emergency alerts, control-room instructions, or coordinated responses during outages. Investors care because failures or delays in these communications can halt production, violate regulations, damage reputation, or lead to costly safety incidents, so reliability and redundancy directly affect a company’s risk profile and value.
Digital Evidence Management System technical
A digital evidence management system is software that collects, organizes, stores and secures electronic items used as proof—such as photos, video, audio, documents and logs—while keeping an auditable record of who accessed or changed them. For investors, it matters because it reduces legal and regulatory risk, speeds investigations and compliance, and can lower costs or reputational damage by ensuring evidence is reliable and easily retrieved, much like a locked, searchable filing cabinet with a timestamped activity log.
cybersecurity technical
Cybersecurity involves protecting computers, networks, and digital information from theft, damage, or unauthorized access. It is essential for safeguarding sensitive data and maintaining trust in digital systems, which matters to investors because strong cybersecurity reduces the risk of costly breaches and disruptions that can impact a company’s performance and reputation. Think of it as locking and safeguarding valuable information much like securing a safe to prevent theft.
network monitoring technical
Network monitoring is the ongoing observation of a company’s computer networks to track performance, detect problems, and ensure data moves securely and reliably. For investors, it matters because poor network health can cause service outages, lost revenue, data breaches, or costly downtime—similar to a store closing when its lights go out—while strong monitoring reduces risk, protects customer trust, and supports consistent business operations.
threat detection technical
Threat detection is the process of spotting signs that something harmful or unwanted is happening or about to happen to an organization—such as a cyberattack, fraud, data leak, product safety issue, or regulatory noncompliance. Think of it as a building’s smoke detector: it alerts managers early so they can stop damage, preserve operations and reputation, and avoid costly fines or loss of investor trust.
mission-critical AI technical
Mission-critical AI is an artificial intelligence system that a business depends on for essential operations—like safety controls, core customer services, or automated decision-making—where failures would cause major disruption, financial loss, or legal risk. Investors care because these systems affect reliability, compliance, and competitive edge; their performance, maintenance costs, downtime risk, and oversight practices can materially influence a company’s value and future cash flows, much like the foundation of a building supports everything above it.

Exacom’s solutions help public safety agencies consolidate call logs and record 911 audio and radio traffic directly into their cloud-based or on-premise storage systems, helping to create a single narrative of the entire incident. Integrating with Motorola Solutions’ Assist Suites will help provide immediate insights during live incidents while preserving evidentiary records for compliance, quality assurance and investigations. Exacom’s logging recorders are broadly integrated in the market with over 85 existing radio, 911 call handling, CAD and enterprise voice systems, enabling comprehensive and cohesive recording.

“In a landscape where data is often fragmented, we are moving to unify the ‘audible truth’ of emergency calls and critical voice communication with the ‘visual truth’ of video,” said Mahesh Saptharishi, executive vice president and chief technology officer, Motorola Solutions. “By integrating Exacom into our Digital Evidence Management System, we are helping to eliminate information silos to create a centralized data layer, ready to be efficiently transformed into actionable intelligence with Assist, our mission-critical AI."

Exacom’s portfolio also includes the specialized cybersecurity expertise of its subsidiary, SecuLore, which provides proactive network monitoring and threat detection to protect mission-critical public safety networks.

Exacom supports a diverse customer base across public safety, energy, utilities, transportation and security.

“Joining Motorola Solutions represents a strong affirmation of our solution path, our team and the disciplined execution that has earned the trust of public safety agencies,” said Al Brisard, President and CEO, Exacom. “Integrating our cloud-native recording solution with the Motorola Solutions command center suite unlocks new levels of visibility, performance and response capabilities for any kind of incident.”
