WILMINGTON, Del.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Northern Trust Wealth Management has appointed Cynthia Brown as President of The Northern Trust Company of Delaware. Reporting to Chief Fiduciary Officer Laura Mandel, Brown will also oversee Northern Trust’s specialized trust services in Nevada.

Brown joins Northern Trust with more than 20 years of trust and fiduciary experience. She most recently served as Director of Special Situs Trusts and President of the Delaware Trust Company for Mechanics Bank. Before that, she spent two decades at Commonwealth Trust Company, following four years in private law practice at Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP. Brown has played an active role in the development of Delaware trust legislation and is a Fellow of The American College of Trust and Estate Counsel.

“Cynthia knows this work from every angle as a fiduciary leader, an attorney and a contributor to the evolution of Delaware trust law,” Wealth Management President Jason Tyler said. “She brings the technical expertise and practical perspective clients rely on when trust planning becomes especially complex.”

Brown succeeds David Diamond, who has held the role since 2014 and will remain actively involved in the business until his retirement at the end of this year.
