Universal Display Corporation (Nasdaq: OLED) agreed to acquire emissive OLED patent assets from Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany, in a definitive agreement expected to close in January 2026 subject to customary conditions.

The portfolio includes more than 300 issued and pending patents across 110+ patent families with an average remaining lifetime of approximately 10 years. UDC says the assets expand its coverage of emissive device structures and related material components and will complement its R&D and UniversalPHOLED materials platform. Transaction parties are UDC Ireland Limited and Merck Electronics KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany. No purchase price or changes to guidance were disclosed.
