Key Terms

equity research financial
Equity research is the process of studying a publicly traded company's business, finances and market position to form an informed view on whether its stock is a good investment. Think of it as a detailed inspection and forecast — analysts gather facts, estimate future profits and risks, and then recommend buy, hold or sell; investors use these findings like a weather report to judge potential returns and risks before putting money into a stock.
actuarial consulting technical
Actuarial consulting is a professional service that uses mathematics, statistics and financial theory to estimate the likelihood and cost of future events such as death, illness, retirement, or catastrophic losses. Consultants build models, set insurance prices, calculate reserves and value pension or benefit obligations so companies can show how much they may owe later. Investors care because these estimates affect reported liabilities, earnings volatility and capital needs—like a weather forecast that helps prepare for financial storms.
