PulteGroup Celebrates Veterans Day with More Than Words: Building Homes and Careers for Those Who Served
Nation’s third-largest homebuilder delivers over 100 mortgage-free homes to wounded veterans while building meaningful careers for transitioning service members
This Veterans Day, the homebuilder is highlighting what dedication looks like, and why supporting those who served has become fundamental to the company's identity.
“Our commitment to veterans spans decades, and it's only grown stronger in recent years,” said PulteGroup President and CEO, Ryan Marshall. “These are men and women who've given so much in service to our country, and we have the ability to give something meaningful back. Whether that's a mortgage-free home or a career with purpose, it's not just the right thing to do, it’s who we are as a company. Together we can turn gratitude into action for those who sacrificed.”
Building Homes, Changing Lives
Since 2013, PulteGroup's Built to Honor® program has delivered more than
For Built-to-Honor families, a mortgage-free home means more than just immediate financial relief, it means stability and the freedom to focus on healing rather than housing payments. The ability to build generational wealth instead of battling homelessness. Most importantly, it provides the foundation these heroes need to rebuild their lives alongside their families.
"This is truly life changing for us, basically like giving a golden ticket to veterans," said
Veterans Building Careers
Ian Sheridan and PulteGroup found each other through the Hiring Our Heroes program. A 20-year Army veteran and former special operations service member, Sheridan transitioned from active duty to a procurement agent role in PulteGroup’s Raleigh Division in 2024. He’s one of the almost 250 self-identified veterans at PulteGroup who came to the company organically or through partnerships like Hiring Our Heroes and the DoD SkillBridge Program, initiatives that help transitioning service members find their footing in civilian careers.
"The fact that PulteGroup values my experience within the military, especially when it comes to leadership, speaks volumes to the ethos in the company and how they value the military experience in day-to-day working life,” said Sheridan. “PulteGroup, for me, is a unicorn experience. It is the one in a million where everything is exactly as I would want it to be. Amazing culture, great salary, amazing healthcare, paid time off. These things don't happen."
Sheridan's transition from military to civilian life has been remarkably smooth thanks to PulteGroup. "I don't feel that much like a fish out of water coming from the military working at Pulte," he said. His advice to other transitioning service members? "If there's any member of the Hiring Our Heroes cohort that gets the opportunity, seize on it, absolutely seize on it."
For Sheridan and hundreds of other veterans at PulteGroup, the company's commitment is felt in the day-to-day culture and in the understanding that military experience brings real value. Veterans bring proven leadership, discipline, and mission-focused mindsets that strengthen teams across the organization.
Fostering Connection and Support
Beyond employment, PulteGroup's Military & Veteran Professionals (MVP) business resource group unites the company’s veterans, military spouses, and allies who are dedicated to building community and supporting successful transitions to civilian life. The group provides ongoing mentorship, fosters connections among those with shared military experience, and hosts programming that keeps members engaged with the veteran community, from speakers like Jason Gardner, a retired
"MVP is more than just a network. It's a community where veterans can connect with others who understand the unique challenges of transitioning to civilian life," said Rich McCormick, PulteGroup's Southeast Area President and a
“Being the most respected homebuilder in America means more than constructing quality homes,” added Marshall. “It means standing for something. Our work with veterans, from Built to Honor to the careers we've built together, reflects the values that define us. We're grateful for the opportunity to serve those who served, and that commitment will continue to guide us into the future.”
This Veterans Day, PulteGroup isn't just saying thank you. They're showing it: one home, one hire, one community at a time.
