Sentiment and the balance of points

Rhea-AI Sentiment reads the wording of the document, how positive or negative its language is on a 1 to 5 scale. The balance of points shown with the takes weighs what the document actually discloses, so the two can disagree, for example when a trial that missed its main goal is described in upbeat language.

How this balance works

Rhea-AI gives every point it takes from this document a weight. Minor counts 1, Moderate 3 and Major 9, so one Major point outweighs several Minor ones. The bar adds up the weights on each side, and when neither side holds more than 65% of the total the balance reads Mixed.

It reads the document as published, with the same rules for every company, and it does not look at what the market expected or at how the stock traded, so a point can be objectively good on a day the stock falls.

Rhea-AI Sentiment measures something else, the tone of the wording.

News Explained

The planned AUM reporting change may reduce reported totals without a revenue effect, while the approved equity-plan increase expands capacity for intended grants.

The board declared a quarterly dividend of $0.21 per Class A share on October 28, 2026, payable on or about December 18, 2026 to holders of record at close of business on December 11, 2026, setting a dated cash distribution for eligible holders.

At the end of the first quarter of 2027, Silvercrest expects to change how it reports non-discretionary AUM, likely eliminating that category; the company says this would lower reported non-discretionary and total AUM once, without a revenue effect.

The company reports shareholder approval to increase the number of shares issuable under its equity plan, expanding issuance capacity separately from the grants it says it intends to make imminently.

aum financial
"Discretionary assets under management (“AUM”) which drives the firm’s revenue"
Assets under management (AUM) is the total market value of investments that a financial firm or fund manages on behalf of clients. Investors watch AUM like the size of a shop: larger AUM can mean more fee revenue, greater market influence and perceived stability, while rapid changes in AUM signal growing popularity or redemptions that may affect future earnings and investment strategy.
gaap financial
"U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (“GAAP”) consolidated net income"
GAAP, or Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, are a set of standardized rules and guidelines that companies follow when preparing their financial statements. They ensure consistency, transparency, and comparability across different companies, making it easier for investors to understand and compare financial information accurately. This helps investors make informed decisions based on trustworthy and uniform financial reports.

adjusted ebitda financial
"Adjusted Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation and Amortization (“EBITDA”)"
Adjusted EBITDA is a way companies measure how much money they make from their core operations, like running a business, by removing certain costs or income that aren’t part of regular business activities. It helps investors see how well a company is doing without distractions from unusual expenses or gains, making it easier to compare companies or track performance over time.
mifid regulatory
"we received our full MiFID license through the Central Bank of Ireland"
MiFID is a European regulatory framework that sets rules for how financial firms buy, sell and advise on stocks, bonds and other investment products. Think of it as a rulebook for a marketplace that forces firms to be clear about costs, act in clients’ interest, record trades and make market information more transparent. For investors this means stronger protections, clearer pricing and easier comparison of services, which helps reduce hidden costs and unfair practices.

"our UCITS fund, Australian trust, and regulatory licensing effort"
UCITS is a European regulatory standard for pooled investment funds that sets common rules on how they are run, what they can invest in, and how they protect individual investors. Think of it like a certified recipe and passport for retail funds: it assures basic safeguards such as diversification, liquidity and clear reporting, which helps investors compare options, reduces risk of surprise practices, and makes funds easier to buy across borders.

NEW YORK, Oct. 29, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Silvercrest Asset Management Group Inc. (NASDAQ: SAMG) (the “Company” or “Silvercrest”) today reported the results of its operations for the quarter and nine months ended September 30, 2026.

Business Update

Silvercrest continued its strategic initiatives during the third quarter, and we continue to progress with the plan we have described over the past two years. Discretionary assets under management (“AUM”) which drives the firm’s revenue decreased $939.2 million during the third quarter to $23.8 billion, primarily due to weaker markets. Of that, $753.1 million had a revenue effect. The third quarter’s weaker markets followed unusually strong second quarter markets, with the result that capital growth has contributed $1.7 billion in AUM this year to date. Net flows for the quarter were essentially flat at $58.3 million. Silvercrest added $182.2 million in organic new client accounts, which was the best quarter during 2026, and our net flows included an affirming $373.0 million follow-on investment in the firm’s global value equity strategy. Offsetting outflows during the quarter were primarily attributable to seasonal high net worth client withdrawals for tax payments as well as some institutional outflows.

While total AUM stands at $36.2 billion, we have discussed in prior quarters that non-discretionary AUM are associated with a small portion of revenue, as most of non-discretionary AUM represents flat fee family office and related services. Therefore, changes in the level of non-discretionary AUM do not correlate to revenue change. We will adjust how the firm reports non-discretionary at the end of the first quarter of 2027, likely eliminating the non-discretionary AUM category. This adjustment will substantially lower reported non-discretionary and total AUM on a one-time basis without revenue effect. We seek to provide investors with a clear picture of the discretionary AUM and the flows and economics that drive our business.

Year to date, revenue increased 2% year over year, reflecting a recovery in average AUM levels weighed down by first-quarter outflows. Our estimated annual run rate increased by a similar percentage year over year, since September 30, 2025.

We announced during the third quarter that we received our full MiFID license through the Central Bank of Ireland. We also opened our Dublin office to serve both high net worth and institutional clients in Europe. With the completion of our Atlanta and Dublin offices, our UCITS fund, Australian trust, and regulatory licensing effort, we do expect administrative and legal costs associated with these initiatives to decline and begin contributing revenue.

Our institutional pipeline has continued to grow substantially and remains robust, particularly in our Global and International Equity strategies, which continue to deliver exceptional performance. Our pipeline quality has also improved with both more possible AUM as well as in number of opportunities. We completed progress on building our global infrastructure and distribution for our current revenue push. We also have achieved important third-party ratings for our strategies and vehicles, and we continue to seek additional ratings with major global consultants to further open institutional distribution channels.

As previously discussed, Silvercrest will continue to adjust our compensation ratio to match compelling opportunities to organically grow the business. Total compensation and benefits expense was $62.9 million, representing 66.3% of revenue, for the nine months ended September 30, 2026. As we have consistently communicated, our earnings and Adjusted EBITDA¹ reflect the deliberate cost of the most significant investment program in the firm's history, and we expect the compensation ratio to remain elevated as these investments mature.

Also, we have discussed with and reminded investors, shareholders approved of an increase in the number of shares issuable under our equity incentive plan. Intellectual capital is Silvercrest's most important resource, and we have made substantial investments in excellent talent. We intend to imminently make equity grants to the professionals who are building our business and executing our strategy. Attracting and motivating our professionals and working to align their long-term interests with those of our shareholders is fundamental to how we intend to grow the firm and compound value through this investment cycle and beyond.

On October 28, 2026, the Company’s Board of Directors declared a quarterly dividend of $0.21 per share of Class A common stock. The dividend will be paid on or about December 18, 2026 to stockholders of record as of the close of business on December 11, 2026.

Revenue increased by $1.4 million, or 4.5%, to $32.7 million for the three months ended September 30, 2026, from $31.3 million for the three months ended September 30, 2025. This increase was mainly due to an increase in the average annual management fee.

The decrease was primarily attributable to decreases in the accrual for bonuses of $0.9 million and severance of $0.1 million, partially offset by increases in salaries and benefits of $0.2 million primarily as a result of merit-based increases and newly-hired staff, including our new staff in Ireland and in equity-based compensation of $0.3 million. General and administrative expenses increased by $1.3 million, or 16.0%, to $9.6 million for the three months ended September 30, 2026 from $8.3 million for the three months ended September 30, 2025. Non-GAAP Financial Measures

To provide investors with additional insight, promote transparency and allow for a more comprehensive understanding of the information used by management in its financial and operational decision-making, we supplement our consolidated financial statements presented on a basis consistent with GAAP with Adjusted EBITDA, Adjusted EBITDA Margin, Adjusted Net Income and Adjusted Earnings Per Share, which are non-GAAP financial measures of earnings. These adjustments, and the non-GAAP financial measures that are derived from them, provide supplemental information to analyze our operations between periods and over time. Investors should consider our non-GAAP financial measures in addition to, and not as a substitute for, financial measures prepared in accordance with GAAP.

  • EBITDA represents net income before provision for income taxes, interest income, interest expense, depreciation and amortization.
  • We define Adjusted EBITDA as EBITDA without giving effect to the Delaware franchise tax, equity-based compensation, professional fees associated with acquisitions or financing transactions, gains on extinguishment of debt or other obligations related to acquisitions, impairment charges and losses on disposals or abandonment of assets and leaseholds, client reimbursements and fund redemption costs, severance and other similar expenses. We believe that it is important to management and investors to supplement our consolidated financial statements presented on a GAAP basis with Adjusted EBITDA, a non-GAAP financial measure of earnings, as this measure provides a perspective of recurring earnings of the Company, taking into account earnings attributable to both Class A and Class B stockholders.
  • Adjusted EBITDA Margin is calculated by dividing Adjusted EBITDA by total revenue. We believe that it is important to management and investors to supplement our consolidated financial statements presented on a GAAP basis with Adjusted EBITDA Margin, a non-GAAP financial measure of earnings, as this measure provides a perspective of recurring profitability of the Company, taking into account profitability attributable to both Class A and Class B stockholders.
  • Adjusted Net Income represents recurring net income without giving effect to the Delaware franchise tax, professional fees associated with acquisitions or financing transactions, losses on forgiveness of notes receivable from our partners, gains on extinguishment of debt or other obligations related to acquisitions, impairment charges and losses on disposals or abandonment of assets and leaseholds, client reimbursements and fund redemption costs, severance and other similar expenses. Furthermore, Adjusted Net Income includes income tax expense assuming a blended corporate rate of 26%. We believe that it is important to management and investors to supplement our consolidated financial statements presented on a GAAP basis with Adjusted Net Income, a non-GAAP financial measure of earnings, as this measure provides a perspective of recurring income of the Company, taking into account income attributable to both Class A and Class B stockholders.
  • Adjusted Earnings Per Share represents Adjusted Net Income divided by the actual Class A and Class B shares outstanding as of the end of the reporting period for basic Adjusted Earnings Per Share, and to the extent dilutive, we add unvested restricted stock units and non-qualified stock options to the total shares outstanding to compute diluted Adjusted Earnings Per Share. As a result of our structure, which includes a non-controlling interest, we believe that it is important to management and investors to supplement our consolidated financial statements presented on a GAAP basis with Adjusted Earnings Per Share, a non-GAAP financial measure of earnings, as this measure provides a perspective of recurring earnings per share of the Company as a whole as opposed to being limited to our Class A common stock.

FAQ

AI-generated questions and answers. How Rhea-AI works. Not financial advice.

What were Silvercrest SAMG's third-quarter 2026 earnings and revenue?

Silvercrest reported $32.7 million in revenue and $0.08 in basic and diluted earnings per share for the quarter ended September 30, 2026. Revenue increased 4.5% year over year, while basic and diluted earnings per share increased from $0.07. Consolidated net income was $1.203 million, compared with $1.089 million.

Why will Silvercrest SAMG change its assets-under-management reporting in 2027?

Silvercrest plans to adjust non-discretionary asset reporting at the end of the first quarter of 2027, likely eliminating that category, to better show the assets and flows driving its economics. Most non-discretionary assets relate to flat-fee family office and related services. The company expects a substantial one-time reduction in reported non-discretionary and total assets, without a revenue effect.

When will Silvercrest SAMG pay its declared quarterly dividend?

Silvercrest will pay its $0.21 per Class A share quarterly dividend on or about December 18, 2026, to shareholders of record at the close of business on December 11, 2026. The board declared the dividend on October 28, 2026.
