This Year Marks the Seventh Celebration of the Charles Schwab Challenge in

1992 Schwab Defender will be awarded to the champion of the 2025 Charles Schwab Challenge, taking place over Memorial Day weekend in
In 1992, Charles Schwab launched Mutual Fund OneSource®, a groundbreaking Charles Schwab & Co., Inc. (Schwab) platform that simplified mutual fund investing and expanded access for individual investors. In honoring that milestone, the firm worked with Winslow Bent, founder of Legacy Classic Trucks, to fully restore the 1992 Schwab Defender, commemorating over 30 years since the launch of Mutual Fund OneSource and its innovation in the investing industry.
“This year’s Champion’s Prize celebrates pivotal moments that transform the status quo,” said Stacy Hammond, Managing Director and Chief Marketing Officer of Charles Schwab & Co., Inc. “In 1992, Schwab launched Mutual Fund OneSource to remove barriers and make it easier to diversify their portfolios. It’s an innovation that continued Schwab’s mission to transform our industry and offer investors more choice.”
Key features of the fully restored 1992 Defender include:
- Modern 430HP Chevrolet LS3 Conversion with a 6L80 six-speed automatic transmission
- Bespoke axe and shovel
- L.L. Bean fly rods and custom mounts
- One-of-a-kind Schwab badging on the car
- Custom leather interior with Colonial plaid inserts
The vehicle will be awarded alongside Colonial’s Leonard Trophy and the iconic Scottish Royal Tartan Plaid jacket, uniting classic tournament traditions with Schwab’s spirit of innovation and empowerment.
Honoring our Heroes on Memorial Day Weekend
Schwab is honored to celebrate the 2025 Charles Schwab Cup Challenge during Memorial Day Weekend and pay tribute to our nation’s heroes during the event; including:
- A special experience for injured service members and veterans. During tournament week, Schwab will host a work experience event in partnership with the On Course Foundation, an organization dedicated to helping injured and disabled veterans build confidence and gain meaningful employment opportunities within the golf industry, as part of its support for The Simpson Cup. At Colonial, those participating will work onsite throughout the week and participate in a golf skills clinic on Tuesday, May 20. Schwab has proudly supported The Simpson Cup, an annual golf tournament between teams of injured servicemen and veterans, and the On Course Foundation since 2022.
- A moment of silence and military flyover. Continuing a meaningful tradition, the tournament will pause play on Sunday, May 25. During this time, players, caddies and fans will be invited to observe a moment of silence in remembrance of military personnel who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country. The tribute will conclude with a military flyover, honoring the spirit and solemn significance of Memorial Day.
A Longstanding Commitment
Charles Schwab became the title sponsor of the annual event at Colonial Country Club starting with the inaugural 2019 Charles Schwab Challenge. Already an established partner of both the PGA TOUR and PGA TOUR Champions, Schwab’s initial four-year sponsorship—now extended through 2026—marked the firm's first-ever title sponsorship of a PGA TOUR event. Schwab remains a cornerstone of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex financial community, with its 70-acre corporate headquarters located in
