venture banking financial
"Stifel’s Venture Banking business, further solidifying its presence"
Venture banking is a specialized form of banking that provides loans, cash management and financial services tailored to startups and the investors who back them. Think of it as a bank that understands early-stage companies’ needs and can extend non-dilutive capital or credit against investor support, which matters to investors because it can extend a company’s runway, reduce the need for immediate equity raises and influence dilution and timing of exits.
project finance financial
"including the recent addition of dedicated Project Finance"
Project finance is a way to fund a single, large undertaking — like a power plant or toll road — where lenders are repaid mainly from the project’s own future cash flows and the project is run through a separate company to keep its money and risks separate. For investors, this structure concentrates risk and reward around that specific asset, so returns and credit exposure depend more on the project’s success than on its sponsors, making careful assessment of cash flow forecasts and contracts crucial.
pre-ipo financial
"from the earliest stages of a company’s growth through pre-IPO and beyond"
Pre-IPO describes the stage when a privately held company offers shares or commitments to investors before its initial public offering. For investors, pre-IPO deals can provide a chance to buy equity at lower prices—like getting into a house before it goes on the market—but they come with higher uncertainty, limited ability to sell quickly, and the risk that the public listing may be delayed, changed, or never occur.

Industry Veterans Appointed in New York and Boston, Augmenting Venture Banking and Venture Capital Coverage Nationwide

ST. LOUIS, Sept. 17, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Stifel Financial Corp. (NYSE: SF) today announced the addition of three senior leaders to its Venture Banking business, further solidifying its presence across the East Coast venture ecosystem.

Chris Morrison, Matt Scott, and Arianne Perry, each of whom previously held senior roles at Silicon Valley Bank (“SVB”), join Stifel to expand Venture Banking and Venture Capital Coverage efforts in Boston and New York. Their appointments strengthen the firm’s ability to serve the banking and financing needs of venture capital-backed technology companies, their founders, and investors.

“We are pleased to welcome Chris, Matt, and Arianne to Stifel as we continue to build our Venture Banking business,” said Stifel Chairman and CEO Ron Kruszewski. “The innovation economy is an important growth opportunity for Stifel. Their experience and relationships strengthen our ability to serve entrepreneurs and investors with the full capabilities of Stifel, from early stage financing through the public markets and beyond.”

Prior to joining Stifel, Chris Morrison spent 15 years at SVB, including three years leading the growth stage practice and more than a decade in credit and venture lending at the bank.

“Stifel has built a differentiated Venture Banking platform that combines a deep understanding of the venture capital ecosystem with the capabilities of a broader financial services firm,” said Morrison, Scott, and Perry in a joint statement. “We look forward to partnering with founders and investors from the earliest stages of a company’s growth through pre-IPO and beyond, providing the banking, financing, and advisory solutions they need as their businesses evolve.”
