SenesTech and Irvine Campus Housing Authority Conclude Successful Field Trial of Evolve™ Rat Birth Control at UC Irvine
SenesTech (NASDAQ: SNES) has successfully completed a nine-month field trial of Evolve™ Rat Birth Control at UC Irvine's University Hills residential community. The trial, conducted with Irvine Campus Housing Authority (ICHA), demonstrated 98% bait consumption across 267 stations, replacing traditional rodenticides with an eco-friendly solution.
The initiative, which began in September 2024, was driven by resident pressure to adopt safer pest management practices. The project supported the HOOT Group's efforts to promote owl nesting and reduce rodenticide use. Following the successful trial, ICHA is placing a multi-pallet restocking order for continued deployment and expansion.

Insights
SenesTech's Evolve trial shows strong market validation with 98% bait uptake and multi-pallet reorder, signaling potential growth in eco-friendly pest control.
SenesTech's 9-month field trial at UC Irvine demonstrates significant market validation for their Evolve™ Rat Birth Control solution. The trial showed 98% bait consumption across 267 deployment stations, indicating exceptional product acceptance in real-world conditions. Most notably, this successful implementation has triggered a multi-pallet restocking order for continued deployment and expansion - the clearest indicator of product efficacy and customer satisfaction.
This deployment represents a perfect case study of the emerging market SenesTech is targeting: communities seeking non-toxic alternatives to traditional rodenticides. The trial specifically replaced existing rodenticides and snap traps with Evolve as part of an integrated pest management approach, directly addressing growing environmental concerns about secondary poisoning effects on wildlife. The partnership with ICHA and community HOOT Group demonstrates the multilateral stakeholder support essential for adoption of new pest control technologies.
What's particularly promising is the documented reduction in rodent complaints and observed activity, confirming real-world effectiveness. The implementation at a university residential community adjacent to a wildlife reserve represents an ideal reference customer that could influence similar communities. The multi-pallet reorder suggests this isn't merely a test but a permanent transition to SenesTech's solution, potentially establishing a recurring revenue stream from this customer while creating a compelling case study for future sales efforts.
A multi-pallet restocking order for continued deployment and expansion is being placed
The initiative began in September 2024 and marked the exclusive use of Evolve Rat Birth Control across common areas of the UHills community. This deployment was part of a broader effort driven by resident pressure on ICHA to transition away from rodenticides in favor of integrated pest management (IPM) strategies that prioritize environmental safety and wildlife preservation. Located adjacent to a wildlife reserve, the community's shift away from rodenticides further supports the protection of local wildlife and ecosystems.
"This project highlights how community-driven action and science-based solutions can work together to support sustainability," said Joel Fruendt, President and CEO of SenesTech. "Evolve aligns with these goals by providing a non-lethal, poison-free solution to rodent control."
Evolve was deployed across 267 bait stations previously containing rodenticides and snap traps. According to field observations, rats consumed
The field trial also supported the efforts of the HOOT Group (Help Our Owls Thrive), a grassroots initiative formed by UHills residents to promote owl nesting and reduce rodenticide use. Together, the partners implemented a range of actions, including installation of enclosed snap traps, removal of rodent harborage areas, and installation of barn owl nesting boxes to encourage natural predation.
"We've been encouraged by the strong bait uptake so far, and it's clear the community is energized about this shift toward more sustainable rodent control" said Andrew Herndon, Vice President of Community Development at ICHA. "It's rewarding to see residents actively supporting practices that are safer for people, pets, and the surrounding wildlife, and to see our efforts reflected by reduced rodent complaints and less observed rodent activity since launching Evolve."
As a result of the collaboration, rodenticides have been eliminated from all 267 bait stations across common areas in UHills. SenesTech is pleased to have contributed to this transition and to support communities like UHills and organizations like ICHA and HOOT that are leading the way in redefining effective, responsible rodent control.
A multi-pallet restocking order for continued deployment and expansion is being placed currently.
