ul marktechnical
The UL mark is a product safety certification issued by Underwriters Laboratories indicating that a specific item has been tested against established safety standards. For investors, a UL mark is like a trusted inspection sticker on a car: it reduces the risk of costly recalls, regulatory fines, and lost sales by signaling the product meets recognized safety requirements, which can protect brand value and help access regulated markets.
near-shore buoyant vesttechnical
A near-shore buoyant vest is a wearable flotation device designed to keep a person afloat in shallow or coastal waters during recreational activities like swimming, boating, or paddle sports. Investors care because it sits at the intersection of consumer demand, safety regulations and manufacturing costs—like a car’s airbag for beach and marina use—so certification requirements, liability exposure, and product quality directly affect sales, margins and recall risk.
issue numberregulatory
An issue number is a unique identifier assigned to a specific batch or series of securities (such as shares, bonds, or warrants) when they are offered or recorded, similar to a serial number on a product batch. It matters to investors because it lets them track which exact instrument they own, check the terms or rights tied to that issuance, and verify regulatory filings or settlement details without confusion.
u.s. coast guard approvalregulatory
U.S. Coast Guard approval is an official sign-off that a vessel, onboard equipment, or maritime operation meets federal safety, security and environmental rules required to operate in U.S. waters. Investors care because this clearance is often needed before commercial activity, revenue generation, or insurance coverage can begin; lacking it can cause delays, extra costs or legal risk—like needing a certified inspection before a vehicle can be used for business.
pfdtechnical
Preferred stock (often abbreviated “pfd”) is a class of company shares that sits between common stock and bonds: it typically pays a fixed dividend and has priority over common shareholders for dividend payments and claims on assets if a company winds down. For investors, preferred shares can offer steadier income like a bond while still being tied to a company’s fortunes, but they usually carry limited or no voting rights, so they affect income and risk profiles differently than ordinary shares.
A limited run of mislabeled Kent Watersports child life jackets poses a potential danger due to reduced buoyancy
NORTHBROOK, Ill.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
UL Solutions, a global leader in applied safety science, today issued a warning that a limited run of Kent Watersports CSF-2 child life jackets was mislabeled by the manufacturer to indicate both 50–90 lbs. (23–41 kg) and under 50 lbs. (23 kg) weight ranges, even though they are certified only for children under 50 lbs. (23 kg), creating a risk of overloading, reduced buoyancy and potential danger to users.
A limited run of mislabeled Kent Watersports child life jackets poses a potential danger due to reduced buoyancy.
The affected CSF-2 life jackets bear the UL Mark, Marine UL Listed Near-Shore Buoyant Vest, Issue Number B8542, and U.S. Coast Guard approval 160.060/40/1. Approximately 2,500 of these life jackets were sold under lot numbers 2J2091, 2J2093, 2J2094, 2J2095, 2J2096, 2J2097, 2J2098 and 2J2099 at sporting goods stores and other retailers across the United States.
UL Solutions recommends that anyone who owns one of these mislabeled life jackets stop using it immediately and remove it from service.
Since certifying its first PFD for buoyancy and flammability in 1971, UL Solutions has remained at the forefront of PFD testing. In 1972, the U.S. Coast Guard recognized its Research Triangle Park laboratory as one of only two worldwide facilities authorized to evaluate PFDs. UL Solutions still holds this distinction today. For more than 50 years, the company’s dedicated team of engineers and laboratory technicians has rigorously tested PDFs for performance, durability and compliance with required safety standards.
UL Solutions offers testing and certification for PFDs to regulatory requirements and standards in the U.S., Canada and Europe.
