Sentiment and the balance of points

Rhea-AI Sentiment reads the wording of the document, how positive or negative its language is on a 1 to 5 scale. The balance of points shown with the takes weighs what the document actually discloses, so the two can disagree, for example when a trial that missed its main goal is described in upbeat language.

How this balance works

Rhea-AI gives every point it takes from this document a weight. Minor counts 1, Moderate 3 and Major 9, so one Major point outweighs several Minor ones. The bar adds up the weights on each side, and when neither side holds more than 65% of the total the balance reads Mixed.

It reads the document as published, with the same rules for every company, and it does not look at what the market expected or at how the stock traded, so a point can be objectively good on a day the stock falls.

Rhea-AI Sentiment measures something else, the tone of the wording.

Key Terms

gross margin, diluted share, capital expenditures
3 terms
gross margin financial
"Gross margin increased sequentially to $134.7 million"
Gross margin is the difference between how much money a company makes from selling its products and how much it costs to produce them, expressed as a percentage of sales. It shows how efficiently a company is turning sales into profit before other expenses like marketing or salaries. Higher gross margin means the company keeps more money from each sale, which is a good sign of financial health.
View in glossary
diluted share financial
"or $1.33 per diluted share"
Diluted share count is the total number of company shares that would exist if all potential claims that can become stock—such as employee stock options, warrants and convertible bonds—were exercised or converted. Investors use diluted shares to see a more conservative view of ownership and per-share metrics (like earnings per share), because it’s like slicing a cake into more pieces: the same profit spread over more slices makes each slice smaller.
capital expenditures financial
"Capital expenditures for the third quarter totaled $16.1 million"
Capital expenditures are the money a company spends to buy or improve big assets like buildings, equipment, or machines that will last a long time. These investments matter because they help the company grow and operate more efficiently, similar to how upgrading a home’s appliances or adding a new room can make it better and more valuable.

ANDOVER, Mass., Oct. 20, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Vicor Corporation (NASDAQ: VICR) today reported financial results for the third quarter ended September 30, 2026. Product and royalty revenues for the third quarter ended September 30, 2026 totaled $197.1 million, a 37.5% sequential increase from $143.4 million in the second quarter of 2026, and increased 78.5% from $110.4 million for the corresponding period a year ago.

Gross margin increased sequentially to $134.7 million for the third quarter of 2026, compared to $83.1 million for the second quarter of 2026, and increased from $63.5 million for the corresponding period a year ago. Gross margin, as a percentage of revenue, increased to 68.3% for the third quarter of 2026, compared to 58.0% for the second quarter of 2026, and increased from 57.5% for the corresponding period a year ago. Operating expenses, including contingency fees to law firms enforcing Vicor IP, increased sequentially to $62.5 million for the third quarter of 2026, compared to $48.2 million for the second quarter of 2026, and increased from $42.6 million for the corresponding period a year ago.

Net income for the third quarter was $63.3 million, or $1.33 per diluted share, compared to net income of $49.8 million, or $1.04 per diluted share, for the second quarter of 2026 and net income of $28.3 million or $0.63 per diluted share, for the corresponding period a year ago.

Cash flow from operations totaled $69.7 million for the third quarter, compared to cash flow from operations of $34.0 million in the second quarter of 2026, and cash flow from operations of $38.5 million for the corresponding period a year ago. Capital expenditures for the third quarter totaled $16.1 million, compared to $11.2 million for the second quarter of 2026 and $4.0 million for the corresponding period a year ago. Cash and cash equivalents as of September 30, 2026 increased 13.1% sequentially to approximately $513.1 million compared to approximately $453.6 million as of June 30, 2026.

Commenting on recent developments, CEO Dr. Patrizio Vinciarelli stated: “With the purchase of two additional sites within 30 miles of ChiP Fab-1 in Andover, we will be able to provide a nearly 5X increase in capacity from 3 Fabs, relative to Fab-1. Capacity expansion is necessary in view of demand and industry trends.

Open Compute confirmed the challenges of VRs and IVRs. In addition to infringing patents to 1st GEN VPD, VRs and IVRs face electrical, mechanical and thermal barriers to escalating AI processor requirements. In private presentations and lab sessions with OEMs and Hyperscalers, we demonstrated the distinct advantages of Vicor’s 2nd GEN VPD. Participants paid attention, providing positive feedback and interest in engaging. The stage is set for broader adoption of high performance ALL-FPA current multiplier modules which enable 2nd GEN VPD.

On the licensing front, we granted our first VPD license to an AI OEM at Stage-2 unit royalty rates. Unlicensed OEMs and Hyperscalers may not have realized the implications of importing, or planning to import, computing systems infringing Vicor patents to VPD. The ITC decision to institute an investigation into VPD infringement is catching their attention, prompting inquiries about licenses at royalty rates that strongly favor early adopters."
