Key Terms

greenhouse gas emissions technical
Greenhouse gas emissions are the gases a company releases into the air—like carbon dioxide or methane—that trap heat in the atmosphere and contribute to global warming. For investors, these emissions matter because they can lead to higher regulatory costs, fines, shifting consumer preferences, and physical risks (like supply-chain disruptions), or create opportunities in low-carbon products; think of emissions as a company’s climate footprint that can affect future profits and value.
environmental sustainability technical
Environmental sustainability is the practice of managing a company’s use of natural resources and its effects on air, water, land and climate so those resources remain available and healthy over the long term. Investors care because sustainable practices can reduce legal, operational and reputation risks, lower costs over time and preserve the business’s ability to operate—like maintaining a house to avoid expensive repairs and keep its value intact.
sustainability data disclosure technical
Sustainability data disclosure is when a company publicly shares measurable information about its environmental, social and governance performance—such as energy use, emissions, workplace safety, or board diversity. Investors use it like a company report card to judge long‑term risks and opportunities that won’t show up in short‑term profit figures, helping them compare firms, price risk, and decide whether a company is managing future regulatory, reputational, or operational challenges.

RALEIGH, N.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Vontier Corporation (NYSE: VNT), a leading global provider of critical technologies and solutions to connect, manage and scale the mobility ecosystem, today announced that it was named one of Newsweek’s World’s Greenest Companies for 2026.

This is the first year the company was included on the selective list, following earlier recognition on Newsweek’s lists of America’s Greenest and Most Responsible Companies. Inclusion on the global list represents a higher level of international distinction, requiring Vontier’s operations to meet 25 rigorous EU sustainability criteria.

“At Vontier, we see sustainability as smart business – driving efficiency, accountability and long-term value,” said Katie Rowen, EVP and Chief Transformation and Operations Officer at Vontier. “Throughout the year, we’ve mobilized hundreds of colleagues across the globe to identify and implement practical efficiency gains, creating a ripple effect of transformative change. We’re proud of the progress we’ve made thus far and are committed to continuing to raise the bar.”

The annual ranking, produced in partnership with Plant-A Insights Group and GIST Impact, honors the top 850 companies across 28 countries for demonstrated performance in environmental sustainability. Newsweek evaluated over 8,000 companies across four categories: greenhouse gas emissions, water usage, waste generation and sustainability data disclosure and commitments.

The Newsweek recognition builds on Vontier’s growing portfolio of sustainability achievements, including those from CDP, EcoVadis, USA TODAY, American Business Awards, International Sustainability Awards and TIME.
