Sentiment and the balance of points

Rhea-AI Sentiment reads the wording of the document, how positive or negative its language is on a 1 to 5 scale. The balance of points shown with the takes weighs what the document actually discloses, so the two can disagree, for example when a trial that missed its main goal is described in upbeat language.

HARTFORD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Virtus Investment Partners, Inc. (NYSE: VRTS) today reported preliminary assets under management (AUM) of $141.4 billion and other fee earning assets of $1.6 billion for total client assets of $143.0 billion as of September 30, 2026. The change in AUM from June 30, 2026, reflects market performance and net outflows in retail separate accounts, institutional accounts, U.S. retail funds, and global funds, partially offset by positive net flows in exchange-traded funds and tender offer funds. Preliminary average AUM for the quarter was $149.5 billion.

In September, the company received notification that an institutional subadvisory mandate representing approximately $7.0 billion of assets in a quality-oriented equity strategy will terminate in October. The anticipated impact on revenues is expected to be meaningfully less than the corresponding reduction in AUM given the lower-fee nature of the mandate.

Key Terms

assets under management financial
Assets under management (AUM) is the total value of all the investments that a financial company or fund is responsible for overseeing on behalf of its clients. It’s like a big bucket that shows how much money the firm is managing for people or organizations. A higher AUM often indicates a larger, more trusted company, and it can influence how much money they earn and the services they can offer.
subadvisory mandate financial
An arrangement under which a primary investment manager, trustee, or fund sponsor hires a separate, specialist asset manager (the subadvisor) to manage some or all of a portfolio’s assets on its behalf. The subadvisor makes day-to-day investment decisions and implements strategy within guidelines set by the primary manager and any governing documents; the primary manager retains legal responsibility for the account, oversight duties, and typically pays the subadvisor a fee. A subadvisory mandate can cover specific asset classes, regional exposures, or a portion of total assets and is limited by the mandate’s written instructions, risk limits, and reporting requirements.
