Recent Company History

Recent AI‑tagged news for Vuzix highlights a steady buildout of its smart glasses and ecosystem. At CES 2026, the company showcased AI-powered glasses and waveguides with multiple partners, but shares fell. Other AI updates, including a nearly $1 million shipment to a large online retailer, a mixed‑reality collaboration with Sphere, AI‑powered transcription with TranscribeGlass, and the Mentra AugmentOS launch, saw mixed but generally modest moves. Today’s Display Week 2026 showcase continues this theme of ecosystem and partner expansion.

Key Terms

waveguides, augmented reality (ar), oem, electrochromic (ec), +2 more
6 terms
waveguides technical
"a leading supplier of AI-powered smart glasses, waveguides and Augmented Reality (AR)"
Waveguides are physical pathways, often made of metal or glass, that direct and carry signals like light or radio waves from one point to another. They are important because they help ensure these signals travel efficiently without losing strength, which is crucial for things like internet connections, satellite communications, and radar systems.
augmented reality (ar) medical
"smart glasses, waveguides and Augmented Reality (AR) technologies, will be exhibiting"
Augmented reality (AR) is a technology that overlays digital images, information, or graphics onto the real-world environment through devices like smartphones or specialized glasses. It enhances our perception by blending virtual elements with what we see around us, similar to adding digital markers to a live view of a street. For investors, AR's growth can influence industries such as gaming, retail, and technology, shaping future market opportunities.
oem financial
"highlight its in‑house OEM waveguide design and manufacturing capabilities"
OEM stands for Original Equipment Manufacturer, which is a company that produces parts or components used in the final products made by other companies. For investors, understanding OEMs is important because their performance can impact the supply chain and overall success of major industries, especially those relying on specialized parts. Think of OEMs as the suppliers that provide the building blocks for larger products, like the engine parts for a car.
electrochromic (ec) technical
"integrated photochromic and electrochromic (EC) technologies, enabling adaptive light control"
Electrochromic (EC) describes materials or devices that change color or go darker and lighter when a small electrical voltage is applied, like car sunshades or “smart” windows that tint on demand. Investors care because EC technology can lower heating and cooling costs, enable premium products, and create new manufacturing or recurring-revenue opportunities, affecting sales, capital spending and long-term margins for companies that make or use it.
visible light transmission (vlt) technical
"proprietary lenses deliver a broad visible light transmission (VLT) range from 80% to 20%"
Visible light transmission (VLT) is the percentage of visible sunlight that passes through a material, like glass, film or lenses. Think of it like how much light a window or pair of sunglasses lets into a room: higher VLT means brighter, lower VLT means darker. For investors, VLT matters because it affects product performance, regulatory compliance, energy efficiency and consumer demand—factors that influence sales, pricing and long‑term value of buildings, vehicles and consumer goods.
xr technical
"Vuzix will be located in booth #557 at Display Week 2026, adjacent to the AI and XR pavilions"
XR stands for extended‑release, a drug formulation designed to release its active ingredient slowly over an extended period instead of all at once. Think of it like a slow‑release fertilizer for the body: it can reduce how often patients need a dose and smooth side effects. For investors, XR versions can change sales patterns, patient adherence, regulatory review, and competitive positioning, so they can materially affect a product’s market value and revenue outlook.
