carbon capture and sequestration technical
Carbon capture and sequestration is a process that captures carbon dioxide emissions from sources like power plants or industrial facilities and stores them underground to prevent them from entering the atmosphere. This technology helps reduce greenhouse gases that contribute to climate change, which can influence the long-term stability of energy and environmental markets. For investors, it represents a way to support cleaner energy solutions and potentially benefit from emerging industries focused on sustainable practices.
greenhouse gas emissions technical
Greenhouse gas emissions are the gases a company releases into the air—like carbon dioxide or methane—that trap heat in the atmosphere and contribute to global warming. For investors, these emissions matter because they can lead to higher regulatory costs, fines, shifting consumer preferences, and physical risks (like supply-chain disruptions), or create opportunities in low-carbon products; think of emissions as a company’s climate footprint that can affect future profits and value.
limited assurance regulatory
An engagement where an independent auditor or reviewer provides moderate confidence that financial or non-financial information is free from material misstatement, but stops short of a full audit. Think of it as a focused check or review that uncovers obvious errors but does not involve the deep testing of a full audit. It matters to investors because it signals a lower level of independent verification of reported numbers, helping them judge how much trust to place in the disclosed information.
global reporting initiative standards regulatory
A set of widely used standards for corporate sustainability reporting that guide how companies measure and disclose environmental, social and governance (ESG) impacts. Think of them as a common recipe or blueprint that helps different firms report the same types of information in a comparable way. Investors use these disclosures to assess nonfinancial risks, operational practices and long-term value drivers that aren’t shown in traditional financial statements.
