How this balance works

Rhea-AI gives every point it takes from this document a weight. Minor counts 1, Moderate 3 and Major 9, so one Major point outweighs several Minor ones. The bar adds up the weights on each side, and when neither side holds more than 65% of the total the balance reads Mixed.

It reads the document as published, with the same rules for every company, and it does not look at what the market expected or at how the stock traded, so a point can be objectively good on a day the stock falls.

Rhea-AI Sentiment measures something else, the tone of the wording.

net interest margin financial
"The net interest margin for the quarter ended September 30, 2026"
Net interest margin measures how much a bank earns from lending and investing compared with what it pays for funding, expressed as a percentage of its interest-earning assets. Think of it like a grocery store’s markup: it shows the gap between buying cost and selling price per dollar of goods — here, the cost is interest paid and the sale is interest received. Investors watch it because a higher margin usually means a bank is more profitable and better at managing interest rate and credit conditions.
non-performing loans financial
"non-performing loans totaled $16.8 million"
Loans on a bank’s books where the borrower has stopped making scheduled payments for a prolonged period (commonly about 90 days), so the lender no longer expects full repayment on time. Think of them as overdue IOUs that may never be paid back; a rising level of such loans weakens a lender’s earnings and balance sheet, signals greater credit risk in the economy, and can hurt investors through lower dividends, loan losses, or declines in the lender’s stock value.
allowance for credit losses financial
"The allowance for credit losses (ACL) on loans totaled $17.5 million"
Allowance for credit losses is a reserve set aside by a financial institution to cover potential losses from borrowers who may not repay their loans. It acts like a safety net, helping the institution prepare for loans that might turn sour. For investors, it signals how cautious the institution is about the quality of its loans and potential risks to its financial health.
core deposits financial
"Core deposits totaled $1.3 billion"
Core deposits are the stable, everyday customer balances a bank keeps—like checking and savings accounts and regular business deposits—that are unlikely to be withdrawn suddenly. Think of them as a household’s paycheck direct-deposits: predictable, low-cost funding the bank can rely on. For investors, a larger share of core deposits means steadier cash available, lower borrowing needs and interest expenses, and therefore more predictable earnings and lower risk.
tax-equivalent basis financial
"net interest margin on a tax-equivalent basis"
A tax-equivalent basis is a way to compare investments by converting a tax-free return into the taxable return you would need to receive the same after-tax income, using your marginal tax rate. It matters to investors because it lets you compare dissimilar securities — for example, a tax-exempt bond versus a taxable bond — on an equal footing, much like converting different currencies to the same money before comparing prices.

"The third quarter was impacted by merger-related expenses related to our pending merger with First Financial, announced
earlier in the quarter.  The quarter included additional expenses in the areas of compensation and benefits, and third-party
costs associated with the merger," said Benjamin Bochnowski, Chief Executive Officer. "Credit quality remained stable, as
did our core banking business and customer base. The rapid increase in interest rates contributed positively to loan yields
and margin, although it also resulted in higher unrealized losses in the bond portfolio. We continue to make progress
toward closing our merger with First Financial, and we believe the combination of our companies will have benefits for our
shareholders, customers, communities, and employees. Throughout this process, our commitment to our customers and
communities grounds the team, and our team is working diligently to ensure a seamless transition that maximizes the
promise of the merger.”
Highlights of the current period include:
•Net Interest Margin - The net interest margin for the quarter ended September 30, 2026 was 3.39% compared to
3.25% for the quarter ended June 30, 2026. Net interest margin on a tax-equivalent basis (a non-GAAP measure) for
the quarter ended September 30, 2026 was 3.51%, as compared to 3.37% for the quarter ended June 30, 2026. Net
interest margin increased from the prior quarter primarily due to continued repricing and maturity of the existing loan
portfolio, as well as full quarterly loan yield results from new loan origination strength during the second quarter.
•Funding - As of September 30, 2026, deposits totaled $1.76 billion, an increase of $25.9 million, or 1.5% compared
with June 30, 2026 balances, which totaled $1.73 billion. As of September 30, 2026, non-interest-bearing deposits
totaled $281.5 million, an increase of $10.8 million. Core deposits totaled $1.3 billion at September 30, 2026 and $1.2
billion at June 30, 2026. Core deposits include checking, savings, and money market accounts and represented 71.9%
of the Bancorp’s total deposits at September 30, 2026. As of September 30, 2026, balances for certificates of deposit
totaled $493.3 million, compared to $497.4 million on June 30, 2026, a decrease of $4.1 million or 0.8%. The increase
in total portfolio deposits is primarily related to cyclical flows and continued adjustments to deposit pricing. In
addition, as of September 30, 2026, borrowings, federal funds purchased and repurchase agreements totaled $59.8
million, a decrease of $35.5 million or 37.2%, compared to June 30, 2026. The decrease in borrowings was primarily
attributable to a reduction in FHLB advances resulting from deposit balance strength.
As of September 30, 2026, 71.7% of our deposits are fully FDIC insured, and another 8.3% are further backed by the
Indiana Public Deposit Insurance Fund. The Bancorp’s liquidity position remains strong with solid core deposit
customer relationships, excess cash, debt securities, contractual loan repayments, and access to diversified borrowing

sources. As of September 30, 2026, the Bancorp had available liquidity of $623 million including borrowing capacity
from the FHLB and Federal Reserve facilities.
•Securities Portfolio - Securities available for sale balances decreased by $30.3 million to $279.9 million as of
September 30, 2026, compared to $310.2 million as of June 30, 2026. The yield on the securities portfolio increased to
2.33% for the three months ended September 30, 2026 from 2.27% for the three months ended June 30, 2026. The
decrease in securities available for sale was primarily attributable to an increase in the negative fair value adjustment
to securities. The Bank did not sell any securities during the quarter.
•Lending - The Bank’s aggregate loan portfolio totaled $1.50 billion on September 30, 2026 and $1.50 billion on
June 30, 2026. During the three months ended September 30, 2026, the Bank originated $69.7 million in new
commercial loans, compared to $81.3 million during the three months ended June 30, 2026. At September 30, 2026,
the Bancorp’s portfolio loan balances in commercial real estate owner occupied properties totaled $263.5 million or
17.6% of loans receivable and commercial real estate non-owner occupied properties totaled $332.4 million or 22.2%
of loans receivable. Of the $332.4 million in commercial real estate non-owner occupied properties balances, loans
collateralized by office buildings represented $31.5 million or 2.1% of total loan balances.
•Asset Quality - At September 30, 2026, non-performing loans totaled $16.8 million, compared to $16.5 million at
June 30, 2026, an increase of $239 thousand or 1.4%. The Bank’s ratio of non-performing loans to total loans was
1.12% at September 30, 2026, compared to 1.10% at June 30, 2026. The Bank’s ratio of non-performing assets to total
assets was 0.92% at September 30, 2026 and 0.90% at June 30, 2026. The increase in non-performers included the
addition of a $1.1 million residential real estate loan coupled with eight smaller loans averaging $89 thousand across
eight relationships. These were offset by the removal of thirteen loans totaling $1.2 million in the commercial real
estate, commercial business and residential real estate loan segments. Management maintains a vigilant oversight of
nonperforming loans through proactive relationship management. The Bank has no known credit exposures to non-
depositary financial institutions at this time.
The allowance for credit losses (ACL) on loans totaled $17.5 million at September 30, 2026, or 1.17% of total loans
receivable, compared to $17.7 million at June 30, 2026, or 1.18% of total loans receivable, a decrease of $257
thousand or 1.49%. The Bank's unused commitment reserve, included in other liabilities, totaled $2.0 million at
September 30, 2026, compared to $1.9 million at June 30, 2026, an increase of $36 thousand or 1.8%.
For the quarter ended September 30, 2026, the Bank recorded a net provision for credit loss totaling $124 thousand
based on quarterly growth in certain loan segment balances and other factors within the Bank's ACL modeling. The
third quarter's provision consisted of a $88 thousand provision for credit losses on loans, and a $36 thousand provision
of credit losses on unused commitments. For the quarter ended September 30, 2026, net loan charge-offs totaled $240
thousand, compared to net loan recoveries of $31 thousand for the quarter ended June 30, 2026. The allowance for
credit losses as a percentage of non-performing loans, or coverage ratio, was 104.5% at September 30, 2026, compared
to 106.9% at June 30, 2026.
•Operating Income and Expenses - Non-interest income as a percentage of average assets was 0.52% for the quarter
ended September 30, 2026 and 0.48% for the quarter ended June 30, 2026. Non-interest expense as a percentage of
average assets was 3.35% for the quarter ended September 30, 2026, as compared to 2.95% for the quarter ended
June 30, 2026. The increase in non-interest income as compared to the prior quarter was due to a $182 thousand gain
associated with the sale of one of the Bancorp's branch locations. The increase in non-interest expense quarter over
quarter was primarily attributable to one-time compensation and benefits adjustments totaling $1.8 million and
professional and outside services expenses totaling $536 thousand, both associated with the Bancorp's pending merger.
•Capital Adequacy - The Bank’s tier 1 leverage ratio was 9.29% as of September 30, 2026 and 9.31% as of June 30,
2026. The Bank’s capital continues to exceed all applicable regulatory capital requirements. The Bancorp’s tangible
book value per share (non-GAAP) was $31.07 at September 30, 2026, down from $35.75 as of June 30, 2026.

Disclosures Regarding Non-GAAP Financial Measures
Reported amounts are presented in accordance with GAAP. In this press release, the Bancorp also provides certain
financial measures identified as non-GAAP. The Bancorp’s management believes that the non-GAAP information, which
consists of tangible common equity, tangible book value per share, tangible common equity/tangible assets, net interest
margin on a tax-equivalent basis, and efficiency ratio which can vary from period to period, provides a better comparison
of period to period operating performance. The net interest income and net interest margin on a tax-equivalent basis
measures recognize the income tax savings when comparing taxable and tax-exempt assets. Interest income and yields on
tax-exempt securities and loans are presented using the current federal corporate income tax rate of 21%. Management
believes that it is standard practice in the banking industry to present net interest income and net interest margin on a fully
tax-equivalent basis and that it may enhance comparability for peer comparison purposes. Additionally, the Bancorp
believes this information is utilized by regulators and market analysts to evaluate a company’s financial condition and,
therefore, such information is useful to investors. These disclosures should not be viewed as a substitute for financial
results in accordance with GAAP, nor are they necessarily comparable to non-GAAP performance measures which may be
presented by other companies. Refer to the "Reconciliation of non-GAAP Financial Measures" below for more
information.
