How this balance works

Rhea-AI gives every point it takes from this document a weight. Minor counts 1, Moderate 3 and Major 9, so one Major point outweighs several Minor ones. The bar adds up the weights on each side, and when neither side holds more than 65% of the total the balance reads Mixed.

It reads the document as published, with the same rules for every company, and it does not look at what the market expected or at how the stock traded, so a point can be objectively good on a day the stock falls.

Rhea-AI Sentiment measures something else, the tone of the wording.

Net interest margin financial
"net interest margin improved 41 basis points to 3.32%"
Net interest margin measures how much a bank earns from lending and investing compared with what it pays for funding, expressed as a percentage of its interest-earning assets. Think of it like a grocery store’s markup: it shows the gap between buying cost and selling price per dollar of goods — here, the cost is interest paid and the sale is interest received. Investors watch it because a higher margin usually means a bank is more profitable and better at managing interest rate and credit conditions.
Efficiency ratio financial
"efficiency ratio decreased 4% to 53.29%"
A measure of how much a company spends to produce each dollar of revenue, usually shown as operating expenses divided by revenue and expressed as a percentage. Think of it as a household’s budget: a lower percentage means more of each dollar earned stays as profit, while a higher number means costs are eating into returns. Investors use it to judge cost control and compare how efficiently companies turn revenue into earnings, especially in banks and financial firms.
Allowance for credit losses financial
"allowance for credit losses (“ACL”) was $18.8 million"
Allowance for credit losses is a reserve set aside by a financial institution to cover potential losses from borrowers who may not repay their loans. It acts like a safety net, helping the institution prepare for loans that might turn sour. For investors, it signals how cautious the institution is about the quality of its loans and potential risks to its financial health.
Tangible book value financial
"Tangible book value per share at September 30, 2026"
Tangible book value is the accounting measure of a company’s net worth after removing intangible items like goodwill, patents and trademarks, leaving only physical and financial assets minus liabilities. For investors it offers a clearer view of the company’s hard-asset backing per share—like estimating the cash you could get by selling the furniture, machinery and cash in a house—helping gauge downside risk and whether a stock may be cheaply valued.

Diluted earnings per share $0.37 Up 20% from the year-ago quarter

Loans, net of fees, were $1.91 billion at September 30, 2026, $1.94 billion at December 31, 2025, and $1.86 billion at September 30, 2025. During the most recent quarter, loans, net of fees, increased $14.6 million. Compared to the year ago period ended September 30, 2025, loans, net of fees, increased $55.5 million, or 3%. For the third quarter of 2026, loan originations totaled $71.2 million with a weighted average rate of 7.02%. Loan renewals totaled $61.3 million and had a weighted average rate of 6.84%. For the quarter ended September 30, 2026, investment securities decreased due to principal repayments totaling $4.8 million, partially offset by purchases of $1.0 million, and an increase in the portfolio’s unrealized losses totaling $4.5 million due to rising interest rates.

Total deposits were $2.00 billion at September 30, 2026, $2.00 billion at December 31, 2025, and $1.98 billion at September 30, 2025. The decrease in core deposits for the quarter ended September 30, 2026 was primarily due to large customer deposit transactions that occurred at the end of the second quarter, and therefore, the decrease in core deposits at September 30, 2026 was expected. At September 30, 2026 and December 31, 2025, reciprocal deposits, which are mostly comprised of interest checking and savings accounts, totaled $210.6 million and $291.8 million, respectively, and are considered part of the Company’s core deposit base.

Earnings for the nine months ended September 30, 2026 contributed $21.2 million to the increase in shareholders’ equity. The increase to shareholders’ equity from earnings was partially offset by increased cash dividends paid during 2026 totaling $3.6 million and shares repurchased during 2026 totaling $2.1 million. Accumulated other comprehensive loss increased $3.5 million for the nine months ended September 30, 2026, and is attributable to market value decreases in the Company’s available-for-sale investment securities portfolio.

(1) Minimum debt service coverage policy is 1.30x for owner occupied and 1.25x for non-owner occupied at origination.
(2) Loan-to-value is determined at origination date against current bank-owned principal.
During its assessment of the ACL, the Company addressed the credit risks associated with these portfolio segments and believes that as a result of its conservative underwriting discipline at loan origination and its ongoing loan monitoring procedures, the Company has appropriately reserved for possible credit concerns in the event of a downturn in economic activity.

Minority Investment in Mortgage Banking Operation
For the three months ended September 30, 2026 and 2025, the Company recorded a loss of $403 thousand and income of $508 thousand, respectively, related to its investment in Atlantic Coast Mortgage, LLC ("ACM"). For the nine months ended September 30, 2026 and 2025, income from ACM totaled $437 thousand and $999 thousand, respectively. The decrease in income for 2026 as compared to 2025 is primarily due to the recent increase in mortgage interest rates. ACM's loan originations for the nine months ended September 30, 2026 increased 64% compared to the same period ended September 30, 2025.

The Company’s investment in ACM is reflected as a nonconsolidated minority investment, and as such, the Company’s income generated from the investment is included in noninterest income.

Income Statement
The Company recorded net income of $6.6 million for the three months ended September 30, 2026 compared to net income of $5.6 million for the three months ended September 30, 2025, an increase of $1.0 million, or 19%. Compared to the linked quarter, net income for the three months ended September 30, 2026 decreased $1.6 million, or 19%, from $8.2 million for the three months ended June 30, 2026. The Company recorded net income of $21.2 million for the nine months ended September 30, 2026 compared to net income of $16.4 million for the nine months ended September 30, 2025, an increase of $4.8 million, or 30%. Included in net income for the nine months ended September 30, 2026 is a one-time pre-tax gain of $847 thousand attributable to the completed sale of the Bank’s interest in Bearing Insurance Group, LLC to an unaffiliated third party that occurred in the second quarter of 2026.

Net interest income increased $2.4 million, or 15%, to $18.4 million for the quarter ended September 30, 2026, compared to $16.0 million for the same period of 2025, and decreased $715 thousand, or 4%, compared to the linked quarter ended June 30, 2026. Net interest income for the third quarter of 2026 decreased as net interest income for the second quarter of 2026 included $1.0 million in loan prepayment fee income. Excluding this prepayment fee income, net interest income for the third quarter of 2026 increased $285 thousand, or 2%. The increase in net interest income for the third quarter of 2026 compared to the year ago quarter was due to an increase in interest income from both increased yields and average loans receivable combined with a decrease in interest expense on deposits.

The Company's net interest margin increased 41 basis points to 3.32% for the quarter ended September 30, 2026 compared to 2.91% for the quarter ended September 30, 2025. The increase in net interest margin from a year ago is a result of scheduled repricing and maturities of its loans receivable portfolio along with improvement in the cost of funding sources. Compared to the linked quarter ended June 30, 2026, net interest margin decreased 21 basis points from 3.53%. As previously mentioned, net interest income for the second quarter of 2026 included $1.0 million in loan fees related to the prepayment of a commercial real estate loan. When excluding these loan fees, net interest margin was 3.35% for the second quarter of 2026, which was 3 basis points higher than the quarter ended September 30, 2026. Compared to the linked quarter, net interest income for the third quarter of 2026 was impacted by a decrease in average loans, which decreased $50.7 million, as expected loan closings were rescheduled to the fourth quarter of 2026 due to customary closing delays. The funds available for the delayed loan originations were temporarily invested in lower yielding interest-bearing deposits at other financial institutions, which increased the average balance by $83.4 million during the third quarter of 2026 compared to the linked quarter ended June 30, 2026.

Compared to the year ago quarter, interest income increased $583 thousand, or 2%, to $30.4 million, for the third quarter of 2026, and decreased $671 thousand, or 2%, compared to the linked quarter ended June 30, 2026. Loan interest income increased $1.0 million, or 4%, to $28.0 million for the three months ended September 30, 2026, compared to $27.0 million for the three months ended September 30, 2025. This increase in loan interest income was a result of both an increase in average loans and an increase in the yields earned as loans are originated or renewed at higher interest rates compared to maturing loans. The yield on loans increased 9 basis points to 5.99% for the three months ended September 30, 2026 compared to 5.90% for the same period of 2025, and increased 6 basis points when compared to the linked quarter ended June 30, 2026, when excluding the aforementioned $1.0 million in loan fees recorded for the commercial real estate loan prepayment during the second quarter of 2026.

The Company anticipates a continued increase in loan yields due to scheduled loan repricings and maturities. Within 12 months of September 30, 2026, $152.6 million in fixed rate commercial loans with a weighted average rate of 5.30% and $39.4 million in variable rate commercial loans with a weighted average rate of 4.07% are expected to reprice or mature. Within the following 24-36 months of September 30, 2026, $299.7 million in fixed rate commercial loans with a weighted average rate of 5.93% and an additional $109.6 million in variable rate commercial loans with a weighted average rate of 5.92% are scheduled to reprice or mature. In the near-term, the Company’s efforts to attain appropriate yields on new originations and the repricing of the commercial loan portfolio are expected to provide continued improvement in loan yields.

Interest expense decreased $1.8 million, or 13%, to $12.0 million, for the quarter ended September 30, 2026, compared to $13.8 million for the quarter ended September 30, 2025, which is primarily attributable to the decrease in deposit costs. Interest expense on deposits decreased $1.6 million to $11.5 million for the three months ended September 30, 2026, compared to $13.1 million for the three months ended September 30, 2025. On a linked quarter basis, interest expense on deposits increased $131 thousand, or 1%, compared to the quarter ended June 30, 2026. The cost of deposits (which includes noninterest-bearing deposits) for the third quarter ended September 30, 2026 was 2.36%, a decrease of 33 basis points from the year ago quarter ended September 30, 2025, and a decrease of 4
5

basis points compared to the linked quarter ended June 30, 2026, demonstrating the Company's ability to grow its customer base while reducing deposit costs.

Interest expense on other borrowed funds for the quarter ended September 30, 2026 decreased $475 thousand, to $3 thousand from $478 thousand, for the quarter ended September 30, 2025. Compared to the linked quarter ended June 30, 2026, interest expense on other borrowed funds decreased $93 thousand for the third quarter of 2026. Interest expense on long-term debt for the three months ended September 30, 2026, June 30, 2026, and September 30, 2025, was $482 thousand, $476 thousand, and $245 thousand, respectively. During the first quarter of 2026, the Company redeemed $18.8 million of its subordinated debt and issued $25 million of senior unsecured notes, which pay a fixed rate of 6.75%.

The cost of interest-bearing liabilities for the third quarter of 2026 was 3.04% compared to 3.41% for the third quarter of 2025, a decrease of 37 basis points, and compared to the linked quarter ended June 30, 2026, decreased 3 basis points from 3.07%. Cost of funds, which includes noninterest-bearing deposits, decreased to 2.42% for the quarter ended September 30, 2026, a decrease from 2.47% for the linked quarter ended June 30, 2026, and a decrease from 2.78% for the year ago quarter ended September 30, 2025.

Net interest income for the nine months ended September 30, 2026 and 2025 was $55.0 million and $46.8 million, respectively, an increase of $8.1 million, or 17%, year-over-year. Interest income increased $3.5 million, or 4%, to $91.3 million for the nine months ended September 30, 2026 compared to $87.8 million for the comparable 2025 period. Interest expense totaled $36.3 million for the nine months ended September 30, 2026, a decrease of $4.6 million, or 11%, compared to $41.0 million for the nine months ended September 30, 2025. The Company’s net interest margin for the nine months ended September 30, 2026 was 3.37% compared to 2.88% for the year-ago nine month period of 2025, an increase of 49 basis points, or 17%.

Noninterest income for the three months ended September 30, 2026 and 2025 totaled $303 thousand and $1.0 million, respectively. Compared to the linked quarter, noninterest income for the third quarter of 2026 decreased from $2.2 million for the three months ended June 30, 2026. The decrease in noninterest income during the most recent quarter is primarily attributable to a pre-tax gain of $847 thousand recorded during the second quarter of 2026 from the completed sale of the Bank’s interest in Bearing Insurance Group, LLC to an unaffiliated third party. Additionally, the Company recorded a $403 thousand loss from its minority membership interest related to ACM during the third quarter of 2026.

Service charges on deposit accounts totaled $475 thousand for the third quarter of 2026, an increase of $154 thousand, or 48%, compared to $321 thousand for the year ago quarter, and increased $49 thousand, or 12%, when compared to $426 thousand for the linked quarter ended June 30, 2026. The increase in service charges for the most recent quarter is a result of an increase in the Bank's fees during 2026 in addition to an increase in transactional activity from new and existing customers.

For the nine months ended September 30, 2026, the Company recorded noninterest income of $3.3 million, compared to $2.7 million for the nine months ended September 30, 2025, an increase of $627 thousand, or 23%. Fee income from loans was $238 thousand for the nine months ended September 30, 2026, compared to $145 thousand for the same period of 2025. Service charges on deposit accounts totaled $1.3 million for the nine months ended September 30, 2026, compared to $873 thousand for the nine months ended September 30, 2025, an increase of $391 thousand, or 45%. Income from the Company's minority interest in ACM was $437 thousand for the nine months ended September 30, 2026, compared to $999 thousand for the same period of 2025, a decrease of $562 thousand. Included in net income for the nine months ended September 30, 2026 is a one-time pre-tax gain of $847 thousand attributable to the completed sale of the Bank’s interest in Bearing Insurance Group, LLC to an unaffiliated third party that occurred in the second quarter of 2026.

Noninterest expense totaled $10.0 million for the quarter ended September 30, 2026, an increase of $514 thousand, or 5%, compared to $9.5 million for the year ago quarter ended September 30, 2025. On a linked quarter basis, noninterest expense decreased $603 thousand, or 6%, from $10.6 million for the three months ended June 30, 2026. Compared to the year ago quarter, salaries and benefits expense increased $419 thousand, or 8%, for the three months ended September 30, 2026. The increase in salaries and benefits expense when compared to the year ago quarter was primarily a result of the addition of lending and business development personnel and the filling of vacant positions, along with an increase in other incentive accruals and equity compensation vesting during the third quarter of 2026. Full-time equivalent employees have increased from 118 at September 30, 2025, and 122 at December 31, 2025, to 134 at September 30, 2026. The decrease in salaries and benefits expense for the third quarter of 2026 as
6

compared to the linked quarter ended June 30, 2026 was due to decreased expense related to payroll taxes, equity compensation and incentives.

Internet banking and software expense increased $35 thousand to $925 thousand for the third quarter of 2026 compared to $890 thousand for the year ago quarter ended September 30, 2025, and increased $41 thousand compared to the linked quarter ended June 30, 2026. Data processing and network administration expense increased $2 thousand to $561 thousand for the quarter ended September 30, 2026 when compared to the year ago quarter, and decreased $135 thousand when compared to the linked quarter ended June 30, 2026. For the nine months ended September 30, 2026 and 2025, noninterest expense was $30.4 million and $28.0 million, respectively, an increase of $2.4 million, or 9%, primarily as a result of the aforementioned increases in salaries and benefits expense due to the increase in lending and business development personnel and decrease in vacant positions.

The efficiency ratios for the quarters ended September 30, 2026, June 30, 2026, and September 30, 2025, were 53.3%, 49.7%, and 55.5%, respectively.
