Global Indemnity Q3 2026 net income falls to $8.9M
Nine-month earnings rose year over year, while third-quarter net income and Belmont Core premiums were lower.
Sentiment and the balance of points
Rhea-AI Sentiment reads the wording of the document, how positive or negative its language is on a 1 to 5 scale. The balance of points shown with the takes weighs what the document actually discloses, so the two can disagree, for example when a trial that missed its main goal is described in upbeat language.
Global Indemnity Group, LLC reported third-quarter net income of $8.9 million, compared with $12.5 million a year earlier; nine-month net income was $24.2 million, versus $18.9 million. Current accident year underwriting income was $5.6 million for the quarter, down from $10.2 million, and $16.9 million for nine months, up from $5.4 million; the 2025 nine-month comparison included $15.8 million of California wildfire losses.
Belmont Core gross written premiums fell 5.5% to $102.6 million in the quarter and were $316.4 million for nine months, compared with $316.7 million. Nine-month net investment income declined to $43.1 million from $47.4 million. Book value per share was $47.87 at September 30, 2026, down 2.2% from $48.96 at December 31, 2025. Cash distributions declared per common share were $1.05 for nine months. Jessica E. Buss said she joined as CEO that week.
How this balance works
Rhea-AI gives every point it takes from this document a weight. Minor counts 1, Moderate 3 and Major 9, so one Major point outweighs several Minor ones. The bar adds up the weights on each side, and when neither side holds more than 65% of the total the balance reads Mixed.
It reads the document as published, with the same rules for every company, and it does not look at what the market expected or at how the stock traded, so a point can be objectively good on a day the stock falls.
Rhea-AI Sentiment measures something else, the tone of the wording.
Positive
- Moderate pointNine-month net income rose to $24.2 million from $18.9 million.
Negative
- Moderate pointThird-quarter net income declined to $8.9 million from $12.5 million.

Exhibit 99.1
For Immediate Release — November 4, 2026
Global Indemnity Group, LLC Reports Financial Results for the three and nine months ended September 30, 2026
|
Wilmington, Del., (November 4, 2026) — Global Indemnity Group, LLC (Nasdaq: GBLI) (the "Company") today reported financial results for the three and nine months ended September 30, 2026.
For the three months ended September 30, 2026, net income was $8.9 million, or $0.61 per share, compared to $12.5 million, or $0.86 per share, in 2025. Current accident year underwriting income was $5.6 million, with a loss ratio of 53.0% and a current accident year combined ratio of 94.8%. Belmont Core gross written premiums of $102.6 million were 5.5% lower than 2025. Pretax Adjusted Operating Contribution was $20.1 million and Adjusted Return on Equity was 12.8%.
For the nine months ended September 30, 2026, net income was $24.2 million, or $1.65 per share, compared to $18.9 million, or $1.30 per share, in 2025. Current accident year underwriting income increased to $16.9 million from $5.4 million in 2025, with a loss ratio of 53.8% and a current accident year combined ratio of 94.7%. Belmont Core gross written premiums of $316.4 million were in line with 2025. Pretax Adjusted Operating Contribution was $60.0 million and Adjusted Return on Equity was 12.6%.
Jessica E. Buss, CEO of Global Indemnity, commented, “I joined GBLI as CEO this week. I studied this company closely before accepting the role, and I came in knowing exactly where we stand and what we can become. Our results for the first nine months ran well ahead of last year. The third quarter came in softer, as we held to our underwriting standards while competitors cut property rates, and we owe our shareholders a plain account of that. We also owe them a plan. I am confident that, under my leadership, Katalyx will expand its distribution substantially over the next five years; in my first 48 hours, I set that expansion in motion for 2027. We will put Kaleidoscope to work for our wholesalers, agents and underwriters, and Belmont will materially improve its operating efficiency. Yes, the specialty market is softening, but GBLI meets it with 23 years of top-quartile loss ratios, industry-leading capital reserves, no debt, extremely modest operating leverage and long-standing agency relationships. Many leading E&S wholesalers are now eager to work with Katalyx and its Kaleidoscope technology. Going forward, we will hold ourselves to one measure: sustained growth in premiums, earnings and book value per share at rates far beyond anything GBLI achieved since its founding.”
Highlights of Consolidated Results
Operating Performance |
• Operating income of $26.4 million, or $1.81 per share, for the nine months ended September 30, 2026 compared to $21.8 million, or $1.51 per share, in 2025. • Current accident year underwriting income was $5.6 million for the three months ended September 30, 2026 compared to $10.2 million in 2025. A $1.3 million decline in net earned premiums and a $3.0 million effect of the higher loss ratio drove the decrease. The loss ratio rose to 53.0% from 50.1% in 2025, a quarter with unusually few severe property losses. For the nine months ended September 30, 2026, current accident year underwriting income rose to $16.9 million from $5.4 million in 2025 which included $15.8 million of losses from California Wildfires. • Net investment income of $43.1 million for the nine months ended September 30, 2026, compared to $47.4 million in 2025, resulting from lower limited partnership returns and lower average yields on the fixed income portfolio due to lower U.S. Treasury rates. In September 2026, the Company began lengthening duration by redeploying U.S. Treasuries into higher-yielding securities, lifting the fixed income portfolio book yield to 4.8% and duration of 1.5 years at September 30, 2026, from 4.3% and 1.0 years at December 31, 2025. Reconciliation of Non-GAAP Financial Measures and Ratios for the Nine Months Ended September 30, |
$ in Thousands |
The following reconciles the non-GAAP financial measures or ratios, which excludes the impact of prior accident year adjustments and the California Wildfires, to its most directly comparable GAAP measure or ratio. The Company believes the non-GAAP financial measures or ratios are useful to investors when evaluating the Company's underwriting performance as trends in the Company's segments may be obscured by prior accident year adjustments and the California Wildfires. These non-GAAP financial measures or ratios should not be considered as a substitute for its most directly comparable GAAP measure or ratio and do not reflect the overall underwriting profitability of the Company. |
