How this balance works

Rhea-AI gives every point it takes from this document a weight. Minor counts 1, Moderate 3 and Major 9, so one Major point outweighs several Minor ones. The bar adds up the weights on each side, and when neither side holds more than 65% of the total the balance reads Mixed.

It reads the document as published, with the same rules for every company, and it does not look at what the market expected or at how the stock traded, so a point can be objectively good on a day the stock falls.

Rhea-AI Sentiment measures something else, the tone of the wording.

Net interest margin (FTE) financial
"Net interest margin (FTE) (non-GAAP)"
Net interest margin (FTE) measures the difference between interest earned on a lender’s assets (like loans and investments) and interest paid on liabilities (like deposits), expressed as a percentage of earning assets, with income from tax-exempt sources converted to a taxable-equivalent basis. Think of it as a loan business’s profit margin on money it lends, adjusted so tax-free income is reported on the same footing as taxable income; investors use it to compare how effectively a firm is generating interest income.
Allowance for credit losses financial
"Allowance for credit losses (ACL)"
Allowance for credit losses is a reserve set aside by a financial institution to cover potential losses from borrowers who may not repay their loans. It acts like a safety net, helping the institution prepare for loans that might turn sour. For investors, it signals how cautious the institution is about the quality of its loans and potential risks to its financial health.
Non-performing loans financial
"Non-performing loans"
Loans on a bank’s books where the borrower has stopped making scheduled payments for a prolonged period (commonly about 90 days), so the lender no longer expects full repayment on time. Think of them as overdue IOUs that may never be paid back; a rising level of such loans weakens a lender’s earnings and balance sheet, signals greater credit risk in the economy, and can hurt investors through lower dividends, loan losses, or declines in the lender’s stock value.

MainStreet Bancshares, Inc. Reports Third Quarter 2026 Results

Relationship banking drives growth in net interest income

Fairfax, VA., October 26, 2026 – MainStreet Bancshares, Inc. (Nasdaq: MNSB & MNSBP), the financial holding company for MainStreet Bank, reported net income of $3.6 million for the quarter-ended September 30, 2026, resulting in earnings per common share of $0.43. The net interest margin was 3.55% for the quarter, up two basis points from the previous quarter. Net interest income increased to $18.8 million for the quarter, marking the fourth consecutive quarterly increase.

During the quarter the Bank exercised targeted credit remediation by adding a $1.9 million provision for credit losses, an impact on earnings per common share of ($0.21). The Company and Bank remain well-capitalized with strong liquidity.

"No sector is entirely immune to broader economic realignments, and we are managing through commercial real estate adjustments with eyes wide open," said Jeff W. Dick, Chairman and CEO of MainStreet Bancshares, Inc. and MainStreet Bank.

Chris Johnston, Chief Credit Officer of MainStreet Bank added, "resolving credit challenges in a transitioning commercial real estate environment requires active engagement and patience. We are methodically working through nonperforming assets and prioritizing long-term portfolio quality over short-term expediency. Management continues to actively stress-test the credit portfolio, engage with borrowers, and enforce strong recourse structures."

"A stabilizing D.C. market reinforces the value of our core relationship banking model," added Abdul Hersiburane, President of MainStreet Bank. "As local economic conditions improve, we remain focused on deploying capital prudently, working with well-capitalized borrowers, supporting sound commercial developments, and converting market transition into long-term shareholder value."

In addition to financial statements prepared in accordance with U.S. generally accepted accounting principles (“GAAP”), the Company uses certain non-GAAP financial measures that provide useful information for financial and operational decision making, evaluating trends, and comparing financial results to other financial institutions. Non-GAAP financial measures are supplemental and not a substitute for, or more important than, financial measures prepared in accordance with GAAP and may not be comparable to those reported by other financial institutions. The non-GAAP financial measures presented in this document include the net interest margin, the yield on earning assets, and the net interest spread. The following tables present calculations underlying non-GAAP financial measures for the three and nine month periods indicated.
