Pro-Dex expects to ship validation units later this fiscal year.

How this balance works

Rhea-AI gives every point it takes from this document a weight. Minor counts 1, Moderate 3 and Major 9, so one Major point outweighs several Minor ones. The bar adds up the weights on each side, and when neither side holds more than 65% of the total the balance reads Mixed.

It reads the document as published, with the same rules for every company, and it does not look at what the market expected or at how the stock traded, so a point can be objectively good on a day the stock falls.

Rhea-AI Sentiment measures something else, the tone of the wording.

gross margin financial
"gross margin rose to 33% from 29%"
Gross margin is the difference between how much money a company makes from selling its products and how much it costs to produce them, expressed as a percentage of sales. It shows how efficiently a company is turning sales into profit before other expenses like marketing or salaries. Higher gross margin means the company keeps more money from each sale, which is a good sign of financial health.
marketable equity investments financial
"unrealized gains on marketable equity investments"
diluted net income per share financial
"Diluted net income per share"
Diluted net income per share measures a company's profit attributable to each share of stock after accounting for all possible additional shares that could be created from options, convertible debt or other rights. Investors use it to see how earnings would be spread if every claim on the company converted to stock — like checking how big each slice of pie would be if more people showed up — which reveals true per-share profitability and dilution risk.
estimated fair value financial
"investments are recorded at estimated fair value"
An estimated fair value is a calculated price that represents what a financial asset, liability, or business would likely sell for between willing, informed parties when no exact market price exists. It uses available data and assumptions — like recent sales, cash‑flow projections, or comparable assets — to produce a best‑guess dollar amount; investors use it as a benchmark to judge whether a security or holding appears under- or overvalued.

Gross margin 33% Up 4 percentage points from 29%
Operating income $3.5 million Up 13% from $3.1 million

PRO-DEX, INC. ANNOUNCES FISCAL 2027 FIRST QUARTER RESULTS

IRVINE, CA, October 29, 2026 - PRO-DEX, INC. (NasdaqCM: PDEX) today announced financial results for its fiscal 2027 first quarter ended September 30, 2026. The Company also filed its Quarterly Report on Form 10-Q for the first quarter of fiscal year 2027 with the Securities and Exchange Commission today.

Quarter Ended September 30, 2026

Net sales for the three months ended September 30, 2026, increased $2.1 million, or 11%, to $20.6 million from $18.5 million for the three months ended September 30, 2025. The increase is driven primarily by a $3.3 million increase in medical device revenue, inclusive of rebates, of which $1.8 million relates to the next-generation handpiece we sell to our largest customer, offset by a $1.7 million decrease in repairs of the legacy handpiece we sell to that customer, coupled with an increase in revenue of $511,000 generated by the Company’s newly acquired subsidiary, Advanced Precision Machining, LLC (“APM”), exclusive of inter-company sales in the amount of $814,000 which are eliminated in consolidation.

Gross profit for the three months ended September 30, 2026, increased $1.5 million, or 28%, compared to the year-ago period. Gross margin increased by 4 percentage points to 33% during the three months ended September 30, 2026, compared to 29% during the corresponding year-ago period, due primarily as a result of favorable product mix.

Operating expenses (which include selling, general and administrative, and research and development expenses) for the quarter ended September 30, 2026, increased $1.1 million, or 48%, to $3.3 million compared to $2.3 million for the prior fiscal year’s corresponding quarter. The increase relates to a $442,000 increase in engineering and a $642,000 increase in selling, general and administrative expenses. The increase in engineering relates to personnel costs as well as higher internal project expenditures. The increase inselling, general and administrative expense is primarily due to $466,000 of APM’s separate operations as well as $195,000 of higher personnel costs specifically related to accounting, mergers and acquisitions, human resources, and information technology.

Our operating income for the quarter ended September 30, 2026, increased $406,000, or 13%, to $3.5 million compared to $3.1 million for the prior fiscal year’s corresponding quarter. The increase reflects our increased gross profit, offset by our increased operating expenses, as described above.

Net income for the quarter ended September 30, 2026, decreased to $3.0 million, or $0.92 per diluted share, compared to net income of $4.7 million, or $1.40 per diluted share, for the quarter ended September 30, 2025. Our net income for the quarter ended September 30, 2026, contains unrealized gains on our marketable equity investments of $73,000, while our net income for the quarter ended September 30, 2025, includes unrealized gains on our marketable equity investments of $3.3 million. All of our investments are recorded at estimated fair value, and the period-to-period valuation can be highly volatile. For example, our investment in Monogram Technologies, Inc. was valued as of September 30, 2025 at the cash price we received in October 2025, upon its acquisition by Zimmer Biomet Holdings, Inc. We received $4.04 per share for each of the common shares we owned of Monogram, for a total of $8.9 million in cash proceeds.
