Rhea-AI Filing Summary

Standard Lithium Ltd. reports successful downstream battery testing using lithium carbonate from its South West Arkansas (SWA) Project. About one kilogram of battery-quality lithium carbonate, produced from SWA brine via the project’s process flowsheet, was supplied to Nano One Materials Corp.

Nano One used this material in its patented One-Pot process to make lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cathode active material and coin cell batteries in North America. The resulting material showed suitable chemical and physical properties, the intended particle morphology, and delivered approximately 155 mAh/g on first discharge in initial electrochemical testing, providing additional validation of the SWA process flowsheet and suitability of its lithium carbonate for downstream battery applications.

lithium iron phosphate technical
"used to manufacture lithium iron phosphate (“LFP”) cathode active material"
A lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery is a type of rechargeable lithium-ion battery that uses iron and phosphate in its positive electrode, offering a safer, longer‑lasting but lower energy‑density alternative to some other lithium chemistries. Investors watch LFP because it tends to cost less, resists fire and aging better, and relies on different raw materials and supply chains—factors that influence product pricing, manufacturing costs, and market adoption in electric vehicles and energy storage.
cathode active material technical
"to produce LFP CAM, followed by battery coin cells for testing"
Cathode active material is the chemical substance inside a rechargeable battery's positive electrode that stores and releases electrical energy by accepting and releasing ions during charge and discharge. It determines key battery traits — how much energy the cell holds, how fast it can charge, how long it lasts and how safe it is — so changes in its chemistry, cost or supply can materially affect manufacturers' performance, product pricing and investment risk.
process flowsheet technical
"provides further validation of SWA Project’s process flowsheet"
A process flowsheet is a visual roadmap showing the main steps, equipment, and material flows in an industrial or chemical operation, similar to a recipe or a map that tracks how inputs become finished products. For investors, it reveals how a business produces goods or services, highlighting potential bottlenecks, cost drivers, safety or regulatory risks, and scalability—information useful for judging efficiency, capital needs, and operational risk.
direct lithium extraction technical
"via the application of a scalable and fully integrated direct lithium extraction"
A method for pulling lithium directly out of salty water or other raw sources using special materials and electrical or chemical processes, instead of relying on long evaporation ponds or mining rock. It matters to investors because it can speed up production, lower costs and environmental impact, and make lithium supply for batteries more reliable—like replacing a slow, weather-dependent harvest with a faster, machine-driven picker that boosts output and predictability.

Standard Lithium Demonstrates Successful Use of South West Arkansas Lithium Carbonate in North American LFP Battery Cells

  • Lithium carbonate produced from the South West Arkansas Project pilot plant successfully used by Nano One® to manufacture lithium iron phosphate (“LFP”) cathode active material (“CAM”) and battery cells in North America
  • Testing provides further validation of SWA Project’s process flowsheet and the suitability of its battery-quality lithium carbonate in downstream applications
  • Advances Standard Lithium’s commitment to technological innovation and support for development of a domestic, fully-integrated energy storage supply chain

VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Aug. 13, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Standard Lithium Ltd. (“Standard Lithium” or the “Company”) (TSXV: SLI) (NYSE.A: SLI), a leading near-commercial lithium company, is pleased to announce the successful downstream battery testing of lithium carbonate produced from its South West Arkansas project (the “SWA Project”).

Standard Lithium provided approximately one kilogram of battery-quality lithium carbonate produced using the SWA Project’s brine and process flowsheet (see press release dated 11 March 2025) to Nano One® Materials Corp. (“Nano One”). Nano One successfully used that material in its patented One-Pot™ process to produce LFP CAM, followed by battery coin cells for testing.

The resulting material demonstrated desired chemical and physical properties, achieved the intended particle morphology and delivered approximately 155 mAh/g on first discharge in initial electrochemical testing.

Dr. Andy Robinson, President and Chief Operating Officer of Standard Lithium, commented: “We have spent years testing and developing an integrated process flowsheet designed to produce a high-quality lithium product to meet the stringent needs of the battery industry. Our recent work alongside Nano One provides some exciting additional real-world validation of the work we have done.”

“We also understand that building a secure domestic battery and energy storage supply chain requires more than just lithium production in the United States.   There remains a significant gap between domestic demand needs and the planned production of critical battery raw materials and components, like CAM, to support it. Standard Lithium is well positioned to be a champion in the development of a complete supply chain, including by working with innovative companies such as Nano One that can help provide a solution for the missing midstream in the U.S.”

The test work completed is part of Standard Lithium’s broader efforts to support technology development opportunities and to engage with novel companies across the value chain. These collaborations enhance the Company’s understanding of evolving customer requirements and support the development of a more resilient and competitive domestic battery industry.
