2 terms
foreign corrupt practices act regulatory
"advising corporate clients on investigations and compliance matters involving the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act"
A U.S. law that makes it illegal for companies and their employees to bribe foreign government officials or fail to keep honest financial records; think of it as anti-bribery and accounting rules that travel with a business overseas. It matters to investors because violations can lead to large fines, criminal charges, damaged reputation and costly compliance programs, all of which can reduce a company’s value and disrupt operations.
anti-kickback law regulatory
"SEC laws, and the federal Anti-Kickback Law"
Anti-kickback laws are statutes that make it illegal to offer, pay, solicit, or receive money or other benefits in exchange for referrals, contracts, or purchases of goods and services—especially in healthcare and government-paid programs. Think of them as rules that prevent hidden “finder’s fees” or bribes that would skew professional decisions; violations can lead to criminal charges, large fines, loss of licenses or government business, and significant harm to a company’s value.
