Sentiment and the balance of points

Rhea-AI Sentiment reads the wording of the document, how positive or negative its language is on a 1 to 5 scale. The balance of points shown with the takes weighs what the document actually discloses, so the two can disagree, for example when a trial that missed its main goal is described in upbeat language.

Celestica (CLS) received TSX acceptance for a share buyback allowing purchases of up to 3,132,127 common shares beginning November 3, 2026. The authorization represents approximately 2.5% of public float as of October 20, 2026, and ends November 2, 2027, or earlier if purchases are completed.

Repurchased shares will be cancelled. Funding will come from existing cash resources and draws on its credit facility or other available indebtedness. Management will determine actual purchases and timing. A TSX-cleared automatic purchase plan will allow a designated broker to buy shares during regulatory restrictions or company-imposed blackout periods.

How this balance works

Rhea-AI gives every point it takes from this document a weight. Minor counts 1, Moderate 3 and Major 9, so one Major point outweighs several Minor ones. The bar adds up the weights on each side, and when neither side holds more than 65% of the total the balance reads Mixed.

It reads the document as published, with the same rules for every company, and it does not look at what the market expected or at how the stock traded, so a point can be objectively good on a day the stock falls.

Rhea-AI Sentiment measures something else, the tone of the wording.

3 terms
normal course issuer bid financial
"accepted the Company's notice to launch a Normal Course Issuer Bid"
A Normal Course Issuer Bid is when a company buys back its own shares from the stock market over time. This usually shows that the company believes its stock is undervalued and wants to support its price, which can be important for investors to watch.
automatic share purchase plan financial
"the form of an automatic share purchase plan"
An automatic share purchase plan is a pre-arranged agreement that allows investors to buy a set amount of a company's shares at regular intervals without needing to make individual decisions each time. It helps investors steadily build their holdings over time, much like setting a recurring deposit into a savings account, making investing more disciplined and less influenced by short-term market fluctuations.
credit facility financial
"draws on its credit facility or other forms of available indebtedness"
A credit facility is a flexible loan arrangement that allows a borrower to access funds up to a set limit whenever needed, similar to a company having an overdraft option on a bank account. It matters to investors because it indicates how easily a business can secure cash when required, affecting its ability to manage expenses, invest, or respond to financial challenges.

TORONTO, Oct. 30, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Celestica Inc. (NYSE: CLS) (TSX: CLS), a global leader in data center infrastructure and advanced technology solutions, today announced that the Toronto Stock Exchange (the “TSX”) has accepted the Company's notice to launch a Normal Course Issuer Bid (the “Bid”).

Under the Bid, the Company may repurchase on the open market, at its discretion during the period commencing on November 3, 2026 and ending on the earlier of November 2, 2027 and the completion of purchases under the Bid, up to 3,132,127 common shares, representing approximately 2.5% of the "public float" (within the meaning of the rules of the TSX) as at October 20, 2026, subject to the normal terms and limitations of such bids.

Under the TSX rules, the average daily trading volume of the common shares on the TSX during the six months ended September 30, 2026 was approximately 436,307 and, accordingly, daily purchases on the TSX pursuant to the Bid will be limited to 109,076 common shares, other than purchases made pursuant to the block purchase exception. The actual number of common shares which may be purchased pursuant to the Bid and the timing of any such purchases will be determined by management of the Company, subject to applicable laws and the rules of the TSX. In accordance with the TSX rules, the maximum number of common shares which may be repurchased for cancellation under the Bid will be reduced by the number of common shares purchased by non-independent brokers for delivery pursuant to stock-based compensation plans.

Purchases are expected to be made through the facilities of the TSX, the New York Stock Exchange (the “NYSE”), other designated exchanges and/or alternative Canadian trading systems, or by such other means as may be permitted by the Ontario Securities Commission or other applicable Canadian Securities Administrators, at prevailing market prices. The Bid will be funded using existing cash resources and draws on its credit facility or other forms of available indebtedness, and any common shares repurchased by the Company under the Bid will be cancelled.

The Company has also agreed to the form of an automatic share purchase plan (an “ASPP”) with a designated broker to allow for the purchase of common shares under the Bid at times when the Company would ordinarily not be permitted to purchase common shares due to regulatory restrictions or self-imposed blackout periods. The ASPP has been cleared by the TSX and will be entered into in connection with the commencement of the Bid.

As of October 20, 2026, the Company had 126,111,808 issued and outstanding common shares and a "public float" (within the meaning of the rules of the TSX) of 125,285,094 common shares.

The Company believes that the purchases are in the best interest of the Company and constitute a desirable use of its funds.

The Company previously implemented a normal course issuer bid for its common shares which expires on November 2, 2026. Under its prior bid, the Company was authorized to purchase up to 5,722,527 common shares and repurchased (through the facilities of the NYSE) and cancelled 205,184 common shares (through October 20, 2026) at a weighted average price of US$271.75 per share.
