Preferred shares are a type of investment that gives investors priority over common shareholders when it comes to receiving dividends and getting their money back if a company is sold or liquidated. Think of them as a safer, more predictable way to earn income from a company's profits, similar to a fixed-return investment, but without voting rights. This makes preferred shares appealing to those seeking stable income with a higher claim on assets than regular stockholders.

CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Equity Residential (NYSE: EQR) today announced that its Board of Trustees declared quarterly dividends on the Company’s common and preferred shares. A regular common share dividend for the fourth quarter of $0.6925 per share will be paid on January 16, 2026 to shareholders of record on January 2, 2026.

A quarterly dividend of $1.03625 per share will be paid on December 31, 2025 to shareholders of record on December 19, 2025 of the Company’s Series K Preferred Shares.
