Sentiment and the balance of points

Rhea-AI Sentiment reads the wording of the document, how positive or negative its language is on a 1 to 5 scale. The balance of points shown with the takes weighs what the document actually discloses, so the two can disagree, for example when a trial that missed its main goal is described in upbeat language.

How this balance works

Rhea-AI gives every point it takes from this document a weight. Minor counts 1, Moderate 3 and Major 9, so one Major point outweighs several Minor ones. The bar adds up the weights on each side, and when neither side holds more than 65% of the total the balance reads Mixed.

It reads the document as published, with the same rules for every company, and it does not look at what the market expected or at how the stock traded, so a point can be objectively good on a day the stock falls.

Rhea-AI Sentiment measures something else, the tone of the wording.

News Explained

At September 30, 2026, existing Class A holders faced a larger share base, while Gaia also reported revolving borrowing outstanding.

At September 30, 2026, Gaia reported $7,000 (amounts in thousands) on its revolving line and $7,104 in cash; the balance sheet showed no revolving-line balance at December 31, 2025, so the company had borrowing outstanding while also holding cash.

Class A shares outstanding increased from 19,562,520 at December 31, 2025 to 20,026,793 at September 30, 2026, meaning each existing Class A share represented a smaller fraction of the outstanding Class A shares, all else equal.

Key Terms

arpu, free cash flow, amortization
3 terms
arpu financial
"revenue reliance on third parties and lower ARPU regions"
ARPU, or Average Revenue Per User, measures how much money a company earns, on average, from each of its customers over a set period. It helps investors understand how effectively a business is generating income from its customer base, similar to calculating how much each customer spends at a store. Higher ARPU often indicates stronger sales per customer and better revenue performance.
free cash flow financial
"expect to return to positive free cash flow during the fourth quarter"
Free cash flow is the amount of money a company has left over after paying all its expenses and investing in its business, like buying equipment or updating facilities. It shows how much cash is available to reward shareholders, pay down debt, or save for future growth. This helps investors understand if a company is financially healthy and able to grow.
View in glossary
amortization financial
"while content-related amortization remained relatively consistent"
Amortization is the process of spreading a large cost over a series of future periods, either by gradually writing off the value of an intangible asset (like a patent or license) or by showing how loan principal is paid down over time. For investors it matters because amortization affects reported profits and cash flow — similar to slicing a big bill into smaller monthly payments — and therefore influences valuations, comparisons between companies, and expectations for future earnings.

BOULDER, Colo., Nov. 02, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Gaia, Inc. (NASDAQ: GAIA), a conscious media and community company, reported financial results for the third quarter ended September 30, 2026.

“Our third quarter results reflect the successful completion of the reset we announced at the beginning of March—a deliberate move to reduce our revenue reliance on third parties and lower ARPU regions,” said Kiersten Medvedich, Chief Executive Officer of Gaia. “As part of this shift to prioritize long-term value, we have largely eliminated discounting, with the sole exception of returning members acquired without meaningful marketing spend. We are already seeing traction from these disciplined choices, with member churn rate improving by more than 20% from the first to the third quarter. We remain confident that this focus on the quality of our direct member base is building a stronger, more sustainable foundation.”

Gaia CFO, Ned Preston, stated: “Over the last 60 days, our revenue has stabilized at a quarterly run rate around $21.0 million. We have compensated for this lower revenue by effectively reducing expenses, which has allowed our annualized gross profit per employee to continue growing to $827,000. As predicted, we expect to return to positive free cash flow during the fourth quarter, resuming the trend of nine consecutive quarters of positive free cash flow we delivered prior to our March reset.”

Third Quarter 2026 Financial Results

Revenue decreased 12% to $22.0 million, compared to $25.0 million in the third quarter of 2025. The decrease primarily reflected the decision to reduce acquisition of lower ARPU members and prioritize direct subscribers, which have historically demonstrated lower churn.

Gross margin was 85.2% compared to 86.4% a year ago, primarily attributable to lower revenue, while content-related amortization remained relatively consistent.

Net loss was $(3.0) million, or $(0.12) per share, versus $(1.2) million or $(0.05) per share, in the third quarter of 2025.

Gaia’s cash balance as of September 30, 2026, was $7.1 million.
