Sentiment and the balance of points

Rhea-AI Sentiment reads the wording of the document, how positive or negative its language is on a 1 to 5 scale. The balance of points shown with the takes weighs what the document actually discloses, so the two can disagree, for example when a trial that missed its main goal is described in upbeat language.

Management Commentary

“This was a record year for Genasys, and our fourth quarter results show the strength of our business as we head into the new fiscal year,” said Richard Danforth, Genasys’ Chief Executive Officer. “In the quarter, activity in our Puerto Rico Dams Early Warning System (EWS) project ramped back up, we delivered the scheduled Common Remotely Operated Weapon Station (CROWS) II Technical Refresh program order, and our software business continued to grow as more agencies move away from legacy systems to Genasys Protect.

“With momentum across both our hardware and software businesses, we enter fiscal 2027 with a strong backlog and a growing pipeline. I’m proud of what our team accomplished this year, and we look forward to providing more detail on our results and fiscal year 2027 outlook during our earnings call in December.”

Non-GAAP Financial Measure

We include in this press release adjusted EBITDA, which is a non-GAAP financial measure and which we believe provides helpful information to investors with respect to evaluating the Company’s performance. Adjusted EBITDA represents our net income (loss) before interest income, interest expense, income tax expense (benefit), depreciation and amortization expense, share-based compensation, fair value measurements of our term loans and warrants, other non-recurring expense, and other items that we do not consider indicative of our core operating performance. Adjusted EBITDA is a measure used by management to understand and evaluate our core operating performance and trends and to generate future operating plans, make strategic decisions regarding allocation of capital and invest in initiatives that are focused on cultivating new markets for our solutions. In particular, the exclusion of certain expenses in calculating adjusted EBITDA facilitates comparisons of our operating performance on a period-to-period basis. However, since adjusted EBITDA is a non-GAAP financial measure, it is not necessarily comparable with adjusted EBITDA used by other companies. Adjusted EBITDA has limitations and should not be considered in isolation or a substitute for performance measures calculated under GAAP, including net income (loss), which is the most closely comparable GAAP measure. Because of the early state of the Company’s year-end tax review process, the Company is unable without unreasonable effort or expense to provide an estimated range of net income (loss) at this time.

Voluntary Disclosure; No Inferences

Consistent with its approach to the third fiscal quarter 2026, Genasys is voluntarily providing preliminary unaudited results in the interest of transparency during a fiscal year in which it navigated headwinds stemming from factors largely outside of its control. Investors are cautioned not to draw any inference from the Company’s decision to provide these preliminary results that it will continue to do so in future fiscal quarters or fiscal years. Genasys is not required by law or otherwise to provide such preliminary results, and it does not undertake any obligation to do so in the future.

Key Terms

adjusted ebitda financial
Adjusted EBITDA is a way companies measure how much money they make from their core operations, like running a business, by removing certain costs or income that aren’t part of regular business activities. It helps investors see how well a company is doing without distractions from unusual expenses or gains, making it easier to compare companies or track performance over time.
non-gaap financial measure financial
A non-GAAP financial measure is a way companies present their financial results that excludes certain expenses or income to show how they believe their core business is performing. It matters because it can give a clearer picture of how the company is really doing, but it can also be used to make results look better than they actually are.
gaap financial
GAAP, or Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, are a set of standardized rules and guidelines that companies follow when preparing their financial statements. They ensure consistency, transparency, and comparability across different companies, making it easier for investors to understand and compare financial information accurately. This helps investors make informed decisions based on trustworthy and uniform financial reports.

share-based compensation financial
Share-based compensation is when a company pays employees, executives or directors with its own stock or rights to buy stock instead of, or in addition to, cash. Think of it like receiving store gift cards instead of extra paycheck — it can motivate staff to boost the company’s value, but it also increases the number of shares outstanding and can shrink each existing owner’s slice of profits and voting power. Investors watch it because it affects reported earnings, share count and the alignment between management and shareholders.
