To qualify, vehicles had to be priced at or below their segment's average and include features like automatic transmission, Android Auto™, Apple CarPlay®, blind spot monitoring, forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection, brake assist, and lane departure warning. Electric vehicles needed a minimum range of 280 miles. Over 100 vehicles were evaluated in seven categories.
