TruGreen and iHeartMedia announce national collaboration to support youth sports, including a celebratory equipment donation and 'Play Day' with Maplewood High School

FRANKLIN, Tenn., Oct. 2, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- TruGreen, in collaboration with Good Sports and iHeartMedia, announced an initiative to help further Good Sports' mission to drive equitable access in youth sports and physical activity by supporting children in high-need communities to achieve their greatest potential, on the field and in life.

With a goal to support "play for all," TruGreen and Good Sports are addressing a challenge facing under-resourced youth sports programs: ensuring kids have access to the equipment they need to play and thrive. Good Sports serves schools where the majority of the programs use sports and recreation equipment that is more than 7-10 years old, and where more than 80% of teachers spend their own money on student sports supplies.

This national collaboration is made possible through the iHeartImpact program, a community impact division of iHeartMedia designed to help corporate brands partner with nonprofits through their advertising spend with iHeartMedia. TruGreen's investment helps local organizations across the country expand programming, lower participation costs, and give more kids the physical, social, and emotional benefits that come with being active.

"This partnership is going to help make a profound impact on kids across the country. Good Sports is grateful for TruGreen and iHeart's commitment to helping us provide access to play to kids, no matter where they live. This Play Day Celebration is a testament to that," said Good Sports co-founder and CEO, Melissa Harper.

With more than 11 million kids equipped with sports gear across all 50 states, Good Sports is helping to create safe and inviting environments where children can play.

"As a former athlete, sports really helped me learn the values of teamwork and leadership," said Brian Bugara, Senior Vice President & Chief Revenue Officer at TruGreen. "At TruGreen, we believe in Good Sports' approach to ensure all kids have access to good fields and the equipment they need to play sports. We're excited to be part of this effort."

"Youth sports is a pillar for so many of the communities and audiences we reach every day, including here in Nashville," said Ann Marie Licata, CEO, Multiplatform Group iHeartMedia, iHeartMedia. "Supporting communities is central to iHeart's mission, and we're grateful at the opportunity to come together with both TruGreen and Good Sports to make youth programs across the country more accessible and equitable."

The Maplewood High School Panthers celebrated an on-field Play Day where TruGreen and iHeart joined Good Sports in providing new sports supplies to the school. Led by TruGreen volunteers, student athletes participated in activities with their new equipment, including flag football, volleyball "keep the ball alive", soccer, and a catchers relay race.
