Key Terms

financial planning & analysis financial
Financial planning & analysis (FP&A) is the corporate function that builds budgets and forecasts, tracks actual results against those plans, and models different business scenarios to inform decisions. For investors it matters because FP&A shapes the company’s financial guidance and reveals how management expects to grow, manage costs and use cash—think of it as the company’s navigation system that helps predict whether future targets and returns are realistic.
off-premise technical
"Off-premise" describes transactions or activities that occur outside of a physical location owned or operated by a business, such as purchasing food to take home rather than eating at a restaurant. For investors, understanding off-premise activity is important because it can influence a company's sales patterns and revenue streams, especially as consumer habits shift between dining in and taking out.
revenue growth management financial
Revenue growth management is a company’s ongoing approach to raise sales and profits by adjusting prices, promotions, product sizes, and where products are sold so each customer visit yields more value. Think of it like a store rearranging shelves, tweaking discounts, and offering different package sizes to get shoppers to spend more without simply chasing higher sales volumes. Investors watch it because effective revenue growth management boosts margins and shows whether growth is sustainable and repeatable.
