5 terms
ai technology stack technical
"a $250 million investment vehicle built to partner with the companies shaping the future of AI"
A collection of hardware, software and services organized into layers that together let organizations collect data, train and run AI models, and deliver AI-powered features to users. Typical layers include data storage and pipelines, machine‑learning frameworks and models, cloud or on‑premise compute, APIs and integration, plus security and monitoring. It matters to investors because the stack determines cost, speed, reliability and how easily a company can scale or differentiate its AI capabilities—like the foundation, engine and controls of a car that shape its performance and range.
in-memory compute technical
"including in-memory compute, next-generation networking and data center efficiency"
A computing approach that keeps and processes data primarily in a system's main memory (RAM) instead of reading and writing it to slower disk or flash storage, so calculations and queries happen much faster. Think of it like doing work on a file open on your desk rather than running back to a filing cabinet each time. It matters to investors because it can enable real‑time analytics, lower latency for time‑sensitive apps, and change performance and cost tradeoffs for companies offering data services or deploying heavy workloads.
dram technical
"portfolio of high-performance DRAM, NAND and NOR solutions"
A dram is a small, traditional unit used to measure either mass or liquid volume in manufacturing and pharmaceuticals — roughly 1.77 grams for a weight dram or about 3.7 milliliters for a fluid dram, similar to a small teaspoon or a couple of drops. Investors care because dram-based measurements affect drug dosing, packaging sizes, labeling compliance and raw-material usage, which in turn influence production costs, inventory counts and regulatory risk.
nand technical
"portfolio of high-performance DRAM, NAND and NOR solutions"
NAND is a type of non-volatile memory used to store data in electronic devices such as phones, SSDs, and tablets; it keeps information even when power is off. Think of it as a digital filing cabinet made of tiny cells where data is written, erased and rewritten. Investors watch NAND because its supply, demand and manufacturing costs drive prices, company revenues and profit margins across the semiconductor and consumer electronics industries.
nor technical
"portfolio of high-performance DRAM, NAND and NOR solutions"
A coordinating conjunction used to connect two or more negative alternatives, typically following 'neither' (as in 'neither X nor Y') or used after another negative clause. It tells the reader that multiple things do not apply or are not true, so it can change the legal or factual meaning of a sentence in a filing or announcement—like a hinge that links two doors that both stay closed. Clear use of 'nor' matters to investors because it affects how obligations, exclusions, and risks are read in contracts, disclosures, and press releases.

BOISE, Idaho, Aug. 13, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Micron Technology, Inc. (Nasdaq: MU) today launched the Micron Ventures Paradigm Fund, a $250 million investment vehicle built to partner with the companies shaping the future of AI. Micron Ventures’ third and largest fund to date, the Paradigm Fund will invest across the full AI technology stack, from model architectures and compute infrastructure to enterprise applications and physical AI.

As AI advances from generative models to systems that can reason, act and interact with the physical world, the demands on compute, memory and storage change. The Paradigm Fund is structured to give Micron deeper partnerships with the innovators shaping these shifts and earlier insight into the technologies that will define the future of AI infrastructure.

“We’re in an exciting era of paradigm shifts, each one redefining what AI can do and what it requires,” said Rene Hartner, vice president of corporate development at Micron. “These advancements converge on one common need: high-performance memory and storage solutions. Micron’s Paradigm Fund will invest in and partner with startups driving these innovations and strengthen our ability to deliver leading memory and storage solutions to meet the growing AI demands.”

The Micron Ventures Paradigm Fund will focus on four interconnected domains where AI innovation is expected to shape future memory and storage needs:

  • Model architecture — advances in AI model architecture and data infrastructure that shape future compute, memory and storage needs
  • Compute — how AI workloads are processed, moved and optimized, including in-memory compute, next-generation networking and data center efficiency
  • Enterprise applications — how AI transforms complex industries, including semiconductor design and manufacturing
  • Physical AI — robotics and new device form factors that extend AI into the physical world

The Paradigm Fund builds on Micron Ventures’ Fund I (launched in 2019) and Fund II (launched in 2022, still actively deploying capital). With the addition of the Paradigm Fund, Micron Ventures’ total capital commitment increases to $550 million.

Micron believes the AI era is still in its early stages, and that the advances ahead will reshape how industries operate and how intelligence is delivered. Through the Paradigm Fund, Micron Ventures is investing now in startups and companies that will define the demands of tomorrow’s AI infrastructure, so that Micron and its customers have the memory solutions they need when each new paradigm arrives.
