NEW YORK, Aug. 24, 2023 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- At the end of the settlement date of August 15, 2023, short interest in 3,276 Nasdaq Global MarketSM securities totaled 10,165,210,409 shares compared with 10,124,012,140 shares in 3,275 Global Market issues reported for the prior settlement date of July 31, 2023. The mid-August short interest represents 2.70 days compared with 2.70 days for the prior reporting period.

Short interest in 1,769 securities on The Nasdaq Capital MarketSM totaled 2,056,890,999 shares at the end of the settlement date of August 15, 2023, compared with 2,110,598,628 shares in 1,772 securities for the previous reporting period. This represents a 1.35 day average daily volume; the previous reporting period’s figure was 1.73.

In summary, short interest in all 5,045 Nasdaq® securities totaled 12,222,101,408 shares at the August 15, 2023 settlement date, compared with 5,047 issues and 12,234,610,768 shares at the end of the previous reporting period.
