Key Terms

property and casualty insurance technical
Property and casualty (P&C) insurance covers financial losses from damage to physical assets and from legal liability for injury or damage to others, including policies for homes, cars, businesses and general liability risks. It matters to investors because P&C insurers earn money by collecting premiums and paying claims; their profits depend on how well they price risks, set aside reserves for future claims, and manage investments—like a neighborhood safety net that must balance incoming payments against unpredictable payouts.
reinsurance financial
Reinsurance is when insurance companies buy insurance for themselves to protect against very big losses. It’s like a car owner getting extra coverage from another company so that if there's a serious accident, the financial hit isn’t all on one company. This helps insurance companies stay stable and able to pay out when disasters happen.
underwriting financial
Underwriting is the process where a financial institution agrees to buy and then resell new stocks or bonds to investors. It matters because it helps companies raise money quickly and smoothly, while the bank takes on the risk of selling those securities at the agreed price. Think of it like a booker guaranteeing to sell all tickets for a concert before opening the doors.

delegated authority financial
Delegated authority is the formal handing of decision-making power from a company’s board, executive, or regulator to a manager, committee, or outside party to act on specific matters. Like lending someone the car keys for a particular trip, it speeds routine decisions and lets specialists act quickly, but it also matters to investors because it affects oversight, accountability, and the risk that decisions may be made without full board review.

Appointments add dedicated leadership across operations, underwriting and reinsurance

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Everspan Group (“Everspan”), a specialty property and casualty insurance platform and wholly owned subsidiary of Octave Specialty Group, Inc. (NYSE: OSG), today announced three senior appointments to support the company’s continued growth. David A. Kenyon joined Everspan as Head of Reinsurance on July 31. Bevan Greibesland will join as Chief Underwriting Officer on August 10, followed by Forest Clay Stewart as Chief Operating Officer on August 17. All three will report to Darwin Lucas, President of Everspan Group.

The appointments establish dedicated leadership for Everspan’s underwriting and reinsurance functions, which were previously overseen as a combined role, and strengthen the company’s leadership structure to support its expansion plans.

“As we execute our plans to grow and expand Everspan’s portfolio, we are investing in the leadership and specialized capabilities needed to support that growth,” Lucas said. “Clay, Bevan and David bring deep expertise in their respective areas, and their addition will strengthen our ability to scale the business while maintaining the underwriting discipline, strong partnerships, and operational focus that are central to our strategy.”

Kenyon brings more than 25 years of insurance and reinsurance experience. Most recently, he led reinsurance placement and operations for Zurich North America. He previously held senior positions at Swiss Reinsurance America, GE Global Insurance and Kemper National Insurance Company. Kenyon will be based in Chicago.

Greibesland has more than 20 years of insurance experience spanning program business, delegated authority, and specialty underwriting. She joins Everspan from HDI Global, where she led the company’s U.S. delegated authority and specialty businesses. She previously served as Chief Underwriting Officer of Blitz Insurance and held senior underwriting roles at Global Indemnity and Nationwide. Greibesland will be based in Scottsdale, Ariz.

Stewart brings 20 years of experience in operations, business transformation, and technology across the insurance and financial services industries. He joins Everspan from Chubb, where he served as Vice President, Target Operating Model Leader and Principal Product Owner. He previously held roles at Deloitte and SEI. Stewart will be based in New York and Philadelphia.
