Plumas Bancorp Reports Record Third Quarter 2026 Earnings
Lower credit-loss provisions and a reduced effective tax rate accompanied record earnings, while nonperforming loans increased year over year.
Sentiment and the balance of points
Rhea-AI Sentiment reads the wording of the document, how positive or negative its language is on a 1 to 5 scale. The balance of points shown with the takes weighs what the document actually discloses, so the two can disagree, for example when a trial that missed its main goal is described in upbeat language.
Rhea-AI Summary
Plumas Bancorp (Nasdaq: PLBC) reported record third-quarter 2026 net income of $11.4 million, more than double the prior-year quarter. Diluted earnings per share rose to $1.61 from $0.73. Net interest income increased to $26.5 million from $25.2 million, while credit-loss provisions fell to $150 thousand from $5.4 million. The effective tax rate declined to 18.9% from 25.6%, related to a $14.5 million green energy tax-credit purchase.
Nine-month net income rose to $31.1 million from $18.6 million; comparisons reflect different periods of combined operations following the July 1, 2025 Cornerstone acquisition. At September 30, deposits rose 2.6% year over year to $1.9 billion, while gross loans remained $1.5 billion. Nonperforming loans increased to $21.1 million from $15.0 million, and investment securities’ unrealized losses widened to $44 million from $23 million. Shareholders’ equity increased to $262.5 million from $246.0 million.
How this balance works
Rhea-AI gives every point it takes from this document a weight. Minor counts 1, Moderate 3 and Major 9, so one Major point outweighs several Minor ones. The bar adds up the weights on each side, and when neither side holds more than 65% of the total the balance reads Mixed.
It reads the document as published, with the same rules for every company, and it does not look at what the market expected or at how the stock traded, so a point can be objectively good on a day the stock falls.
Rhea-AI Sentiment measures something else, the tone of the wording.

Certain comparisons to prior-year periods are impacted by the acquisition of Cornerstone Community Bancorp (“Cornerstone”) on July 1, 2025, as 2026 year-to-date results reflect a full period of combined operations while 2025 year-to-date results reflect only three months of combined operations.
President’s Comments
Andrew J. Ryback, director, president, and chief executive officer of Plumas Bancorp, commented, “Our lower-cost relationship-based deposit franchise and enhanced loan yield supported profitability during the third quarter, with continued loan repricing helping to maintain strong net interest margin. Profitability was further supported by the execution of another green energy tax credit investment that reduced income tax expense by offsetting current and prior-year taxes.
Loan balances remained relatively consistent during the quarter, due in part to the continued planned runoff of our lower-yielding indirect auto portfolio. Asset quality slightly improved during the quarter, and we continue to work toward favorable resolutions with the same relationships.
Our strong capital position and experienced team provide us with the flexibility to navigate changing economic conditions, return capital through share repurchases, support our clients and communities, and continue building long-term value for our shareholders.”

The Company manages its liquidity to provide the ability to generate funds to support asset growth, meet deposit withdrawals (both anticipated and unanticipated), fund customers' borrowing needs and satisfy maturities of short-term borrowings. The Company’s liquidity needs are managed using assets or liabilities, or both. On the asset side, in addition to cash and due from banks, the Company maintains an investment portfolio which includes unpledged U.S. Government-sponsored agency securities that are classified as available-for-sale. The Company’s securities portfolio, Discount Window advances, FHLB advances, and cash and due from banks serve as the primary sources of liquidity, providing adequate funding for loans during periods of high loan demand. During periods of decreased lending, funds obtained from the maturing or sale of investments, loan payments, and new deposits are invested in short-term earning assets, such as cash held at the FRB and investment securities, to serve as a source of funding for future loan growth. Management believes that the Company’s available sources of funds, including borrowings, will provide adequate liquidity for its operations in the near future.

FAQ
AI-generated questions and answers. How Rhea-AI works. Not financial advice.
What were Plumas Bancorp’s third-quarter 2026 earnings?
Plumas Bancorp reported record net income of $11.4 million and diluted earnings per share of $1.61 for the third quarter of 2026. The prior-year quarter produced net income of $5.1 million and diluted earnings per share of $0.73.
How does the Cornerstone acquisition affect Plumas Bancorp’s nine-month earnings comparison?
The nine-month 2026 results include a full period of combined operations, while the nine-month 2025 results include only three months. Plumas Bancorp acquired Cornerstone on July 1, 2025. The higher 2025 credit-loss provision primarily reflected acquisition-related initial provisions on acquired loans and, to a lesser extent, unfunded commitments.
How quickly do Plumas Bancorp’s variable-rate loans reprice?
Repricing intervals range from one day to several years, with most commercial real estate loans repricing every five years. Approximately 79% of the loan portfolio was variable-rate at September 30, 2026. Approximately 78% of variable-rate loans were indexed to the five-year T-Bill rate; approximately 19% were prime-indexed and reprice within one day to three months of a prime-rate change.
What changed in Plumas Bancorp’s deposit mix?
Money market accounts increased $38 million and time deposits increased $22 million year over year, partly offset by declines of $11 million in savings and $2 million in non-interest-bearing demand deposits. Non-interest-bearing demand deposits represented 46% of deposits at September 30, 2026. Approximately $41 million of acquired repurchase-agreement balances were reclassified to money market deposits during 2026.
Which Plumas Bancorp loan categories grew or declined year over year?
Commercial real estate loans increased $35 million, construction loans $5 million and equity lines $1 million between September 30, 2025 and September 30, 2026. Automobile loans declined $20 million, agricultural loans $15 million, other loans $4 million and commercial loans $2 million. Gross loans were $1.5 billion at both dates.
