ePlus (NASDAQ: PLUS) has launched its 2025 GRIT: Girls Re-Imagining Tomorrow® program, a STEM initiative aimed at encouraging middle and high school girls to pursue careers in technology. The program, which began in 2017 as a joint initiative with Cisco, has expanded to include more than 100 girls from seven schools across five states.

The 2025 program focuses on exposing participants to cybersecurity, AI, and other technology areas through mentoring and learning opportunities. Since its inception, nearly 500 girls have graduated from GRIT. The initiative was created in response to the global shortage of cybersecurity professionals, particularly women, with current statistics showing women comprise less than one-third of the global technology workforce and only 35% of STEM employees in the U.S.

STEM Program Seeks to Boost Girls' Interest in Technology Careers

HERNDON, Va., Feb. 6, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- ePlus inc. (NASDAQ NGS: PLUS – news) today announced the launch of its 2025 GRIT: Girls Re-Imagining Tomorrow® (GRIT) program across the U.S. GRIT provides middle and high school girls with exposure to mentoring, learning and engagement opportunities that are intended to foster interest in cybersecurity, AI and other areas of technology.

This year's GRIT program includes more than 100 girls from seven schools across California, Minnesota, North Carolina, Texas, and Virginia. Since its inception, almost 500 girls have participated in and graduated from the GRIT program.

GRIT was created in 2017 as a joint initiative between ePlus and Cisco, founded in response to the increasing shortage of cybersecurity professionals worldwide, especially women. GRIT is a STEM-focused program to help increase awareness and enthusiasm in pursuing technology careers among girls, helping them to understand what positions and roles are available to them and to encourage them to consider STEM-based careers in technology.

"The GRIT program helps to shine a light on the many rewarding and meaningful technology careers available to women, and to help them visualize a practical path to obtaining the roles they want," said Mark Marron, CEO and president of ePlus. "With ongoing skills shortages and a widening gender gap across the industry, the GRIT program is a very tangible way to make technology real and accessible to young women. The mentors and volunteers involved do a wonderful job of demonstrating that there is a place for them in this industry to have a substantial and visible impact on the world through technology."

As posted on the website Women in Tech®, a report by The World Bank found that women make up less than a third of the world's workforce in technology-related fields, and that women make up only  35% of employees in STEM in the U.S.1
